I just picked up a JDM EK4 (SiR) yesterday, the car is mildy modified with:
Kakimoto-R cat back exhaust
Cusco LSD
Cusco 3 paddle clutch
15" white Stern Aguzze wheels (advan tyres)
Bridgestone Potenza shocks/springs (firm/solid ride)
Omori Oil temp/pressure and water temp gauge (elec)
Apexi Intake (and an a'pexi intake pipe that i have never seen before)
Anywho the car is seriously quick, it pisses all over UK VTi's (B16a2 motors) but the cusco LSD takes some getting used to
. Anyways as i said i found the car very very rapid up until approx 6700rpm and the found it ran out of steam a bit. The original airbox came with it (plus a spoon drop in filter-i think-its yellow so gods knows what it is) so today i stuck back in the stock airbox and was mistified by its set up, the lower resonator chamber gets its air from behind the drivers headlight (its U shaped) with one end of the intake sucking air from the area behind the headlight then down in to the lower resonator chamber and back up into the airbox...i stuck it on and took the car out for a drive and OMFG the difference is huge, it pulled super strong in all gears into the redline and the exhaust sounds so so so much sweeter now without the induction roar, yet at vtec at 5800rpm you can clearly hear the vtec change in the exhaust note.
Well thats my story and just i wanted to share it with you all...forget about short ram intakes...in my short lived experience they dont work on EKs (but do on DC2's
)
Happy Christmas to everyone!
