Default MPFI mini-me conversion **UPDATE**

Hey everyone, I got a 89 CRX DX. and I just bought a d16z6 vtec head with intake, and fuel rail, with ECU. im currious, can I use the same wiring harness? meaning, just wire up for 4 injectors. and wire for vtec.

k, I just got my stuff today. The head needs a Dizzy. Can I use the DX one that I have on the CRX now???? Also needs a Cam gear, can I use the one from the DX head???

The ECU is a P28, and the Vtec Solonoid has 2 prongs. The headgasket is pm5, and the Timming belt is a pm3. Can I use all this on my d15????

You need to do some research. You need a 88-91 SI dizzy, you can not use your dx one. You can use your dx harness, you just gotta modify it. I am pretty sure that the p28 ecu is obd1. You will need to convert to obd1 to use that ecu. If you wanna stay obd0 you gotta get a si ecu(88-91) and get a vafc or a rpm switch to activate vtec. Do a search in the archived content for "mpfi" and "mini-me"

k, Did A little bit more searching, to convert to obd1, The conversion harness would be the best idea. 140 shipped. not a big deal.
ob1 Distributor
4wire o2

o2 needs to be installed farther down on the exaust pipe, to read all the cylinders.

were is the knock sensor on a DX? and where is the VTEC SOLENOID PLUG, VTEC PRESSURE SWITCH? is it all located ON my new vtec head?? if so where??

personally i would just run a pr3 ecu, so you dont have to convert to OBD1, you will run a little rich but then you can advance the timing which the SOHC loves

if you use the 88-91 si dizzy you will only be able to get 2 of the bolts in the head to hold it on, its not a big prob just looks funny

You dont need to move the o2 sensor, but it does need to be a 4 wire..
There is no knock sensor on a DX, only vtecs have that..
The vtec noid is on the left side of the head, and so it the pressure switch..

If I were you I would do the mpfi conversion using all obd0 stuff.. Make sure that runs great and then upgrade to obd1 if you want to..
Going from a obd0 dpfi car to a obd1 mpfi mini-me is a massive change and if you have something wrong its kinda hard to troubleshoot when you've done so many changes..

But if you run a PR3 you need a KS or you will have a CEL.. IF you want Cheap you could always run a 88-91 si ecu and VTEC controller ... But I think your best bet is a p28 convert to OBD1

True.. I would just run a pm6 ecu and a rpm switch.. Its not like its going to make all that much of a difference on a stock motor anyway..

Well if your using the pm6 and running an rpm switch then you dont need a knock sensor.. If you going pr3 or p28 then their should be a place on the back of the block up where the head meets the block..

I see your using the stock dx motor.. There isnt a spot on the block for a KS because they never came with one.. IM Bauleycivic and he will tell you where you can screw one in on the block..
