Compression test results. whats the verdict
Hey guys, I have a d15 and I wanted to test the compression as I had just gotten it not to long ago, well I skipped the part about pressing the gas all the way to the floor, I must have misread, and then when I reread it I had already put the car back together, either way my results were 170,170,155,170 without pressing the gas, which I heard would actually increase these numbers. I actually did it because someone said my car was smoking and smelt like oil, however, I have a 2.5inch exhaust with a test pipe, and water builds up in the tip, and im pretty sure thats what the smoke is because its cold and exhaust over the water = smoke, and the smell could be mistaken for the exhaust fumes that flow without a cat and such a big exhaust. What do you guys think.
everything looks pretty good, if all the numbers are consitsnt ur good, the 155 is a little lower, maybe redo the test and see what happens
Yeah the whole oil burning thing scares me, I never noticed it smoking until it got cold and then its like the more I drive the more lil droplets of water buildup and sit in my N1, anyone else have this problem? Its just hard to decipher between being cold or burning oil, I haven't noticed myself losing much oil, or anything so I could just be paranoid.
When in doubt consistantly check your oil level if it slowly goes down between oil changes you know your burning some oil as long as you dont have any oil leaks anywhere else that would account for it
well as much as it smokes I would see massive oil lost, hince the reason I don't think its burning oil and its really my assumption of it being cold and all the water that forms on the inside of my muffler..and my compression test numbers are good, so I dont see it being much of a problem...paranoia and cars, gotta love it
Well when it "Smokes" is it white, grey, black, brown? That could help us determine what exactly is coming out the exhaust generally it works as follows:
White = Condensation/Moisture
Grey/Blue = Burning Oil
Black = Running To Rich/Carbon
Brown = Burining Coolant
White = Condensation/Moisture
Grey/Blue = Burning Oil
Black = Running To Rich/Carbon
Brown = Burining Coolant
