if you really are concerned about reducing rotational weight,

cf based rotors is probably your best bet

if you use the caR at all on the street i would not recomend cf based rotors for the fact that they dont work for **** when they are not hot. so after a nice drive on the freeway you may have trouble slowing down at the off ramp.

Bingo!

You don't want CF for this reason just to start, if it sees any street time at all, not to mention prohibitive costs.

OK, so what is the lightest non-CF stock size ITR rotor? I want something that is usable on the street.

lightest rotor evARRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!1111

acutual weight is less than 1 stock lug nut

now buy some used brake pads, with less than 1mm pad left, and you will have the lightest setup of any R

why are you so concerned with rotor weight? the differences are probably so marginal you would never even notice the difference, especially on the street. if anything you should be more concerned with the wheel weight. stick with autozone blanks and call it a day.

I think you're barking up the wrong tree, if you don't mind my saying so.

I'm not sure what you have in mind, but most of us would consider brake rotors a very expendable item and some of us go through a couple of sets per year on the front.

To spend money trying to save weight on rotors would be very expensive if done logically and well, and without your saying what you have in mind with this project, I think that most of us would tell you to forget about it.

Remember, too, that with conventional steel rotors, if you reduce the mass of the rotor you are also reducing the thermal efficiency of the rotors.

There are quite a few experienced ITR users who go with heavier Legend rotors to get better wear and thermal dissipation.

Yeah, if you're looking to lighten something, go after the calipers, wheels or tires. Rotors are a saftey item IMO and lightening makes them less efficient/weaker.

What are you using the rotors for?

Aluminum hat rotors (2 piece). Way lighter than the oem blanks. Good luck finding a set though.

2-piece rotors are definately lighter than stock rotors, but who makes them for the ITR in stock size? I know Stop Tech did, but they got discontinued. Project Mu makes them, but they are very expensive. If you guys know anybody else that makes 2-piece rotors, please post.

Why do you want lighter rotors? You're chasing your tail... there is ~110lbs of unspring weight at each front corner. Lighter rotors = more prone to brake fade.

Fastbrakes made some a while back. He said he would not make them again unless they were all paid for up front.

See if you can get a group buy going...
