Default DIY: Free* License Plate Relocation

All right, I did searches for this to see if it was archived, but none of them are technically free. (* i put this cuz you might have to buy a nut and bolt if you lose one or dont have one lying around)

Supplies:

Lower License Plate Bracket (labled in the picture)

1 nut
1 bolt
Socket set
Exacto Knife (or a dremel)
Plate hole plugs (optional)

1.Remove your plate.
2.Then remove the bottom plate bracket. This bracket has a 90 degree bend in it. 3.If you put it in a vice you can bend it flat.
4.Find the desirable position on the lower grille.
5.Take the dremel or exacto knife and cut a hole for the bolt. This is kind of a pain in the *** if you take you bumper off it might be easier.
6.Run the bolt through the bracket then through the grille. Securing it on top of the grille allows for more stability.
7.Secure with the nut.
8.Attach license plate.
9.Then enjoy!

The bottom of the plate will move a little but its not too bad. The bolt and nut can be found just lying around sometimes you can just use the original bolt that was holding the bracket in. Thought I could help some fellow cheap asses!

I know I know some people get lost when people do this. For one it creates the illusion of the car sitting lower, two it keeps the radiator from being blocked (as much), three I was bored, and the least important reason of all JdM PhuCkinG OwNS JoOo bIaTch!!11! I was just kind of experimenting and I kinda like (for now). And as far as the intercooler thing goes, I dont have one, but if I did I would much rather have it off the side (by the intercooler piping) as opposed to right in the middle. Then again if I had an intercooler I would just put the plate on my dash.

Here's mine. Intercooler needs to breathe. You can see where the plate USED to be.

Techinically you have to have a plate on the front bumper in IL they even bitch if you put it on the dash. Another reason why I moved it was it covers up the racoon damage from this fall. The grille is broke so I figured why not cover it up.

where do you get those plate hole plugs?

I've thought about doing mine on the side but i dont want to drill holes in my bumper. and i have a front mount so i can't put mine in front of my grill. no jdm for me.

I am pretty sure that mount job would just ask for my car to get pulled over in Utah, and probably searched too.

Zip ties.
And the front mount is painted flat black so you can't see it in that pic. STEALTH MODE baby!!!!
