Default 90 Hatch RHD Conversion

Heres, the deal, recoverd whats left of my car after it was stolen, and I've decided to ditch the body kit and rice and go for another b16, a jdm front end, and I was hoping, a right hand drive conversion.

I'll have a front clip with everything pre-dash up
I have mechanical skillz

What I would like to know is, what all has to be relocated... I know ill be drilling new holes in the firewall for the spedo cable, clutch cable, and throttle cable. Obviously the wiring will do a bit of shifting too.

What else has to be done?

How hard is it?

any good how to sites out there?

use a plasma cutter an cut the firewalls out of both cars. be sure to bea ccurate and do them the exact same way. take the rhd firewall and weld it into the lhd chassis. you will then need to swap the cradles from the lhd and rhd. make sure the rear mount position is the same so when you bolt the engine in you don't have fucked up positioning. you must swap the cradles to get the rhd rack mounted correctly.

start reassembling the dash/underdash ish. teh us wirng harness can be used but you will have to modify lengths of wires and the directions that they may go to fit well and not put extra stress on the wires.

flame away...it's just common sense and if you had a bare chassis and a front cut sitting around wouldn't you think it was kinda cool to do. i have the remains of a cut sitting around and i plan on doing this jsut for fun...interesting project, hone my welding skills.

hahaha, definitly a moronic idea, why would you want to make a great, easy to drive car like a civic really hard by having the steering wheel on the wrong side (in north america atleast)...

it might help to have an SiR in person to see where the holes are, its going to be hard to guess...

the helms doesnt have anything like that, since thats really part of the manufacturing process.

and its gonna be a lot of work just to not be able to use food and atms... but to each their own.

save yourself the headache...buy a flight to japan, buy yourself a car, ship it over, and drive the thing. will most likely take shorter time to do this. lol jk.

i dig a RHD car, but it looks like such a headache to install.

Hey you gonna get them european plates with that RHD? lol

so you haven't driven a rhd have you?

it isn't any harder to drive, takes a couple laps around the block to get used to and then you are good to go.

i wouldn't do it to my daily driver but as a project on a rust free but maybe theft recovery title it would be a fun project...not all that hard to do.

Although shipping would be a pain the ***, i'd just buy this car and call it a day. Saves a lot of trouble IMO.

I haven't driven rhd, but sometimes I have a hardtime seeing around trucks when I am turning left (at trafic lights) if I am not positioned just right, I would imagine it be a lot harder in a rhd drive car,.......it would be kind of cool, but I agree not as a DD....I still wouldn't do it, doesn't look enjoyable to drive on north american streets

There's no problem converting to rhd as long as your willing to stand behind it all the way

We europeans do not drive on the wrong side sir. That was the idea of the brittish, and their bastard children the aussies copied it from them. Japan didn't have a choice. (...or else matey! )
