Default quick question dealing with leaking oil!

ok well i have an ls/vtec and it seems to be leaking oil from in between the block and the head. i didn't even think that is possible because it is in front of the engine. before i thought it was grease but when i changed oil, it only had about 3 quarts. and also when i checked it last night, it had a little of the new oil on the block. think i have a warped head? i don't have a blown head gasket because the radiator fluid isn't foamy. thanks again.

doing a search to try and find out why this happens. a friend of mines just put his ls/vtec together and the head was decked to make sure it was good. his leaks for the front pass side corner of the head gasket. mines does not and i have seen a few leaking and few not. any one have any insight.

thanks hector

i think its normal..i have a b16 and my head isnt warped and i have a mugen headgasket and my motor slightly leaks oil on the passanger side front of the motor right above the engine code stamp...my buddy just had his head milled, new headgasket and his motor still leaks in the same spot...both motors have good compression..i dunno what to do

i dont think its normal, maybe acceptable. my ls vtec doesnt leak and i have seen plenty that dont and a few that do and all look like the headgasket. damn im glad my vr4 doesnt suffer from this.

you guys sure its not the cam bore plug right above it? Or maybe the dizzy O-ring?
The reason I ask is I think the head would have to be warped like hell to leak at the place your describing(at the HG)...
Thats a LOW pressure return passage and shouldnt really leak at all...

Any oil leak in not normal, get them fixed

i've seen lots of b-series vtec's that leak oil in the same place. Its the cam seal. Try replacing the dizzy o-ring for the sake of a couple dollars it costs from honda and the 10 minutes it'll take you to change it. Also, try replacing the spool valve assembly gasket/seal (vtec solenoid gasket), thats also a cheap easy fix. If you replaced both the o ring and vtec solenoid gasket and it still leaks then you know for sure that its the cam seal.

just got my cams so i'm going to replace the cam seals while i'm it. it could possibly be a warped head, it possibly could not, but on the drive home from CMI, there were little puddles of oil right below the cam gears, where it is leveled and where it is flat.

the o ring on the dizzy side is fine, no oil leaks there.
