Default Did I really deserve this ticket????

Ok I got a ticket two days ago, tell me if you think I really deserved it. Ok driving down the road my car is on its last breath of gas. Iam basically running out and trying to get as far as possible so I dont have to push my damn car far. Iam going 10 over as a cop turns on its lights. I run out of gas and coast to the side of the road. The female cop comes to my are window and Iam like"I was out of gas and coasting as far as I could", mind you this is at like 2 in the morning so there is not one car to be seen. See says she doesnt care and is conducting a trafic violation. She goes back to her car and gives me the ticket ******* leaving me their with no gas so I get to push the damn car(the gas station was in sight). Did I deserve this ticket. I know I was speeding but come on it was dead out also. Even if I did the cop was a bitch.

Sorry to go against you, but how was she supposed to know you were coasting? 10mph is a little bit man... If I was a cop I'd let you go.. Sorry bro.

Well the way she would know I was coasting is when she was driving away and I was pushing my car. Not to sound like a smartass but it just sucks the last thing I could afford was a ticket. Not saying it wasnt my fault for going over the speed limit but Christ I ran out of gas give a guy a break.

That really sucks. 10 over isn't that much but in terms of a ticket it can be a lot.

If you can help it never get caught out late in sport car and running over the speed limit. Almost everyone I know seems to get ticket during this time..mostly from what I heard is because around here atleast they figure your drunk college student going home from a party.

But if she left you there without any gas at all she should atleast called you a tow or taken you to the nearest gas station. If I were you I would gotten here badge # which you may have on her ticket and I report her **** because all police are suppose to help you get some sortof help if your stranded on the side of the road. I know most cops and state troopers here will either call Asap to bring some gas to you or they will have some in there car and give you enough so you can make it to the next gas station. But to leave you out in the dead of night is pretty bad in my opinion. Also normally here you can be 5-8mph over speed limit and they let you go. Just remember when they ask how fast where you going you tell them I'm not really sure because I didn't look down at the speedo..which then makes them have to go back to there car to see what they clocked you at..because if they haven't more less they let you go with warning. Because if you admit you were running over the speed limit you basically admitting to the crime that your guility.

Do you have any other previous tickets? Because if you where just 10mph over the limit which is easy especially going down hill...I think she should let you off with a warning. But I would contest the ticket and that she also left you in the middle of night knowing well you had no gas left to get to a gas station. I wish my ticket would been like yours..hell it be thrown out court here in heart beat if they heard that because here they believe in helping out everyone if you can..and here it's officers duty to help someone in need if at all possible.

Yah I know that is alittle slow but the only money, well sortof money, was a gas gift card to amoco which was where I was going. Not really alot of them around here. I got a speeding ticket right when I got my license almost 3 years ago but none since then.

Hmm well normally or atleast here after 3 yrs the oldest ticket is cleared off your recorded after it's reach 3 yrs old. Not sure if it's the same there but here you normally get a warning if it's your first ticket ever unless you act like **** or you where 20 something over the limit...then they have to give you the ticket...but even then most give you some slack there. Say you 20 miles over the limit well they only put down 14 over the limit as you pay per how many mph your over the limit here.

I agree with Racer-X, that's not cool that she just left you there, you should definitely do something about that. The cops where I used to live would have helped you and probably let you off with a warning at the most!

I think she should have been a little more sensitive to the subject...either taking you to get gas, or letting you off, or even offer to help you get your car to the gas station. Sorry.

yea 10mph sounds like a lot on paper, but once you go to court (you really should) you can get it talked down to less than 5mph over the speed limit or you can get it dropped alltogher for her not helping you...sorry to hear about that man....did you fry your fuel pump running it w/o gas in it?

not to be rude, but......
you should watch your guages and know when you need gas, not by the sputtering of your exaust and engine grasping for gas when there isnt any....

she could have at least given you a ride to the gas station and back - that was the shitty part
