Default Skunk 2 short shifter problems

HI, does anyone have a problem with a skunk 2 short shiter for their R. i just installed one and on the box it states that it is for a 92-00civics and 94+integra. the problem i am having is that the shifter is constantly rattling against my exhaust and the shifting seems rough (shifting through gears). is there a type R specific shifter maybe? or should i just keep the oem shifter in? thanks for the help guys!

Short shifter feel can be improved by loosening the bolt that threads into the bottom portion of the shifter (it is sometimes overtightened by the installer). When you installed it, did you lube the plastic race up well?

I prefer using the stock shifter and installing a set of energy suspension stabilizer shifter bushings.

It sounds like the throws are quite short as the bottom of the shifter is making contact with the larger than OEM midpipe. Another alternative would be to make the midpipe hang lower by using different muffler bushings.
