d16 tranny question

Default d16 tranny question

i just bought a used tranny cause my 3rd and 4th synchros were shot.

they guy says the tranny was out of a 94 ex but my 1st gear goes to like 39 mph instead of 35 and when i take off i have to rev it alot higher and it shudders to take off
it says S20 on the tranny like my old one but i dono.
is it a cx or vx tranny?
it takes much longer to rev in 1st and 2nd the rest i dono.
any info would help
what are vx and cx trannys desingnation?

All the 92-95 Civic trannies are S20. The numbers afterwards on the sticker are of now use. You must look above the tranny drain plug to get info. Look under "Basic Info" on the link above.

FYI info, 7200 rpm in EX----DX----CX/VX
in first gear = 35.2----36.9----46.0 mph

The easiest way to tell if you have a CX/VX tranny is 3rd gear.......
you can do 120+ mph in 3rd gear!
