Antifreeze
My last subject "Snow in Houston" may have thrown some off.
My question is regarding my antifreeze. It has been 2 to 3 years since I had the antifreeze flushed. If I top it off, would that be ok? It is still green.
Honda Accord 95.

unacceptable....
go flush it you cheap bastage!
it's way too easy a job to neglect it for so long.
i do mine every 30K
put the heater setting on high\hot and let the blower do its thing for a few minutes with the A\C OFF and the car on.
turn the car off and let it cool.
take the radiator cap off.
unscrew the draincock at the bottom of the radiator and let all the stuff come out.
unscrew the coolant drain bolt on the engine block and let it drain there as well
put a garden hose in the top of the radiator where the antifreeze goes in and flush it out for a few minutes until only clean water come out the bottom draincock.
take out your overflow bottle and clean it thoroughly.
after all the water has stopped dripping out, screw the bolt on the engine block back on with a new washer and do not overtighten.
screw the draincock back in the radiator.
unscrew the coolant bleed bolt on your thermostat housing a bit (if applicable) and start filling the radiator with fresh pre-diluted honda type 2 antifreeze.
keep filling and squeezing the radiator hoses until you see fluid start to bubble out of the bleed bolt in a steady stream.
tighten the coolant bleed bolt and do not overtighten
fill your overflow bottle and install back into place
fill the coolant to the neck of the radiator and start the car with the heater on high and the A\C off.
fill more fluid if the level drops after a few minutes, squeeze the hoses to make sure no air is trapped.
put the radiator cap back on and make sure to clean off spilled fluid.
BE SURE TO CATCH AND DISPOSE OF USED ANTIFREEZE PROPERLY AND DO NOT POUR IT DOWN ANY DRAIN OR ONTO THE GROUND!!

leave it that way a couple of year and you probably could start your car with the antifreeze with that kind of PH level.
Flush it every 30k or 3year, which ever is first.
DON'T use antifreeze with tap water, or filtered water. Only use distilled, because all the extra minerials you get from the tap will only do harm to the little aluminium engine.
make sure you bleed the air bubble(for most honda, you can find them in the highest part of the cooling system beside the radiator cap}
and listen to beachaccord

For HONDA always use:
1. Honda type 2 pre diluted antifreeze
2. Honda Brake fluid
3. Honda automatic transmission fluid
4. Honda Power Steering Fluid.
This will save you lot of $$$ in the long run and Lot of Trouble free driving miles.

has anyone seen the new honda coolant they must have changed companys they buy from because it is blue now
i change my coollant every year ... it just keeps your engine in better condition and makes the radiator last longer
