Default Tuning my all motor setup

Right now I have a JDM type r thats completely stock. Right now all I have is my skunk 2 stage 2 cams, but in january I am going to order a hytech header, 2.5 piping from kteller for my exhaust, and cam gears.

So with that, I am having trouble deciding on which system to go with, hondata or AEM EMS. the hondata is a good bit cheaper, but If I wanted to tune it myself I would spend about the same. It looks like the AEM is a much more flexible system, but I dont see anyone using it.

Also I live in New Orleans and our shops SUCK. We have 1 dyno, but they dont do any tuning... I would be more than happy to travel to dallas or houston if there is a good tuner in that area for the AEM or hondata system.

So any info you guys can provide would be a BIG help

Both are good tuning tools. hondata is way cheaper unless you buy all the stuff to tune it yourself. You are going to also need a wideband O2 if you plan on street tuning it. The AEM is more money but comes with tons more features. Also there are alot of people using it. good luck on your project.

Look at Hondata's site and it says that all S200 units will ship out with datalogging enabled free if ordered before the end of december.

You can skip the boost function and just get the ROMulator for real-time editing and Pocket Programmer to burn the chips.

The free datalogging and not having to enable the boost function will save you $360 to $400. That'll put you about $500 cheaper than an AEM EMS if you buy a new unit, and you can use that money for a wideband instead.

There are excellent tuners in Dallas and Houston.

Thanks for the info guys! I just ordered 2 s200s with the rom editor, emulator and programmer. Also does that gforce meter work pretty good instead of a dyno? It would be nice to get a idea when trying to tune for power and goto a dyno to get it perfect.

Also with the Wideband, which one do you guys recommend?

I prefer the uberdata moded P28 method over the Hondata due to the cost factor. Its more then 150 bucks cheaper to do this, with the same results. It’s just a bit more of a PITA to go uberdata, but if you go with someone (a tuner) who knows what he’s doping, it doesn’t really matter. If you want I can give you the email of the H-T member that sold me my Uberdata ready P28 for 140 bucks shipped. A great deal and the guy has like 4 pages of positive feedback, plus one from me.

yeah I did look into uberdata for a option... I decided to go with hondata for a few reasons. One it looks a hell of alot more organized. Looking at Uberdata it is a bit scattered. download this script and type in... It does look a bit more complicated, but thats not the deal really... looking at the forums I saw posts of people having some quirky problems and I never really heard much of any problems with hondata.

I am not trying to put Uberdata in the trash. Personally I think it is a awesome idea.. I mean its free!! and I hear a lot of people are extremely happy with functionality and performance, but I want to buy something that I have someone to call and bitch at if something is not working right.
