i have a friend that uses it.. dont see any problems with his motor (40K).. i use Mobil 1 5W-30 Tri-synthetic.. i have about 60K more miles than he does tho.. both our motors arent having any problems... i dont see many shops carrying amsoil or royal purple, etc.. tho.. or at least not the ones i go to.. i've used Mobil 1 in my car for years..

i know that amsoil says that it lets you go so many miles more than the normal 3k mile change, but if you think about it you could put the best oil in the world in it and its still going to get dirty like any other oil. therefore it needs to be changed at 3k miles like every other, and if i'm paying 9 bucks a quart...seems to me like alot of spent money.

Exactly, if your gonna change it every 3k, its not worth it to get some crazy expensive oil like Amsoil or Royal Purple. Just stick with Mobil 1 or whatever you prefer.

It has been around for years. I have used it, but I still never went over 3K without changing. I really dont believe it is worth the $ It is my understanding that many of the trucking companies swear by it

i dont think your comprimising with mobil1..... and you can go longer before oil changes because it takes longer for synthetic to brake down. dont forget even your honda/acura service manual that comes with the car says 7500. i still do mine under 4k though, always with synthetic

actually your oil does not get dirty it "breaks down" and burns that is what causes it to turn black. AMSOIL does not break down as fast as other oils.....
Where are you seeing it for $9 a quart you are getting ripped off a dealer sells it for 7.50 and I can get it for 5.50 (my dad sells it).................

I believe their claim that you don't need to change the oil as often as other oils, because it's in a class of their own. Mobil 1 is damn good (I use it), but I've seen a data sheet on all the types of oils and Amsoil won every category there. I believe they're the best oil out there, but the price definitely makes you think. On the other hand, the filter can't go past an ordinary time frame for oil changes, so if anything you can dump the oil back in after changing the filter, but you still need to change the filter. Unless you buy one of their crazy super filtering units with dual filters (like more then a $100 for the unit I think and then the price of filters to mount to this thing), which bypasses to the second filter when the first has reached a certain limit in porosity, then you can safely do with way more then 3,000 miles period. If anyone out there doesn't mind the extra cost of this thing, and the extra cost of the oil, and you just don't want to change your oil so often, then you can do this safely.

I knew that it was expensive, but I didnt know exactly how much it is so I said 9 bucks. To me, its not going to, nor is it worth paying the extra for it. I'll just stick with my syntec.

My Porsche came with a BIG *** sticker in the trunk by the oil filler. "Mobil 1 Synthetic Motor Oil ONLY!!". That is enough for me. It is the only thing that I will put in my car.

My freind said theres a way that you dont have to change your amsoil for like 50k miles or so. Something about two filters. I dunno. I like changing my oil.
