There is a nice article by the author (Chris van Rutten) of the Lapsim software on differentials and their effects in the Dec 2004 issue of Race Car Engineering magazine. It has examples from the software. If you have ever run this program, you will know that it shows in the playback mode where and how the differential is causing understeer or oversteer depending on the parameters you have chosen. This article adds some good insight. Software is free, so have a look.
Is this magazine really good? I saw amazon.com has a subscription for it, but its $105 for 12 months! Ouch!
I think it is
at the very least since they explore all aspects and models it's an excellent learning tool for people who are pigeon holed into a singular belief

It is a great technical journal. The contributors are some pretty well known individuals in the international racing community.
I get it here... http://www.ewacars.com/mags.html
It is not cheap, but better than Amazon.

To put that in perspecitve, most folks spend about $12-$20 per month for daily delivery of their local newspaper. That's up to $240 per 12 months...

And to put that in another perspective, one issue of the newspaper is 1/30th the cost of an issue of the mag
Greg,
You wouldn't happen to have an audi by any chance, would you?

I certainly would, fellow BIRA member! My 2000 S4's Nogaro. Fun car, huh? I get big grins every time I drive it, and my engine is dead stock...! Once the extended warranty is done, so's the stock ECU (I'm hoping to pop the turbos before then...65K miles and still going strong...<shrug>

Another good mag on that list is Race Engine Technology. I'm thinking about getting both.

Just incase not everyone realises, Chris van Rutten is not only a contributor to Race Car Engineering, but he's the original developer of Bosch Lap Sim!
