Default sounds from G1 B16 and 99-2000 B16. Why so different?

Well i have been wonder. I have a B16 in my crx with an skunk 2 exhaust system and an intake. I pulled the silencer out and sure u can hear vtec kick in alot better, But i was next to a civic si and every one that i seen/heard hard a much meaner vtec sound. Why is this? i mean im putting in a gsr but still just curious. Its the same with 94-95 B16 del sol. is this just the first gen that does this?

I think it depends on the exhaust...

yea could be headers. i didnt ask him or the rest of them. I have stock ex. manifold. Well it just actually might be a header because i had the silencer in and u can hear it but not great, took it out and u can really hear it change. So maybe the increase in exhaust flow as in headers now will change that.. **** i dont know i just think that sound is so bad ***. Imn still getting my GSR tho. The GSR has less of a sound but i guess thats from the runners? I heard skunk 2 mani fixes that. any ideas on the gsr?

The other thing to keep in mind is that the 1st gen jdm B16A has slightly weaker cams than the newer model B16's. The newer B16 cams have a touch more lift and duration which would make the engine sound louder.

Oh ok that kinda explains it a bit. That have more of a "crack" into vtec. So when i gt my gsr i'll throw some TYPE r cams and i'll have that CRACK into vtec..

If you can adjust fuel pressure, try bumping it up a couple of psi. I was at 50 psi and then i turned it down to 46 psi. VTEC was louder at 50 psi. I have a b16a from 1990.

Could your ecu fuel maps cause the difference in sounds? obd-1 and obd-2 have more of a pop into vtec, while my obd-0 has more of a crack. i have a 98 gsr std and my friends 98 teg has the same cams and still makes quite a different sound. any chance in it being the ecu?

hmm i guess its all a possiblility. I think my ecu is chipped considering its a PWO and vtec comes in at 4800. WEll i dont know i hope i can get my gsr to have a nice deep whicked *** sound when i get on it. Id like to scare a camaro's away.

LOL. well what car is it in? my crx sure pics up into vtec. Yea really i think it is just thye second gen. Im gonna switch my custom intake out for my aem and see if it changes. The custom one is shorter si it prolly wont get better considering the longer tube would queit down the intake...
