My friend has a 97 Civic Coupe EX and he installed a set of indiglo guage faces. Now that he has installed them, after he starts the car and touches the gas pedal all the cars lights begin to pulsate and the speedo quits working. He has replaced the battery and the alternator. I case it matters he got his power from the wires that plug into the cluster. Please help guys. He is stupid.

There is only one ground and it is secured very well to the chassis

 

Mess with the cluster brightness control. On mine, I have to have it in just the right position or it either doesn't work or it pulsates.

 

I am talking about all of the lights in the car.

 

My memory is failing me, does anyone remember whether the voltage regulator is built into the alternator or is it a standalone unit?

 

as he rewired all the gauges a wire or wires maybe touching another as the motor runs..thus shorting now and then as the car car vibrates..recheck the wiring and make sure all of them are fulling insulated so if they do touch..nothing will cause the shorts..
