Default Help wid Car

Yo my friend just bought a 97' DX Hatch, and he needs help with the Speedometer and electrical... The Speedometer isnt working, it'll jump sporadically all the time.I dont know what's wrong wid it, i even replaced the whole gauge cluster.... And then lights kinda fades in and out, they work 'cept it doesnt seem like they are getting enough power... Kinda like when u have a big *** stereo system in ur car, and ur alternator cant handle all the power being drained for the battery.. Do any of u know what the problem is?? and can tell me how to fix?? thanks alot

Maybe your battery or alternator is failing? Other than the lights dimming in and out it sounds like your VSS (which is in the top of your transmission and sends the signal to your speedometer) is going out.

I'm not too sure, would a fuse possibly have something to do with the lights dimming? If not then check the voltage coming out of the battery, then check the alternator

You could check the engine ground.

Sometimes when fuses go bad a little bit of current still goes thru the fuse but not enuff to power it properly.

You could inspect the fuses.
