Skunk 2 suspension
ok guys ive run into what i think is a major problem. I recently purchased a set of Skunk2 Coilovers for my RSX Type S. i asked quite a few people and they said it was a good choice. Today i called a local performance shop to ask them how much they charge and all that. They asked me what car i drive and when i told them they said that they dont recommend puting coilovers on my car because of the MacPherson strust that come with my car. Whats wrong with that and what should i do. If you could please respond quickyl it would be appreciated because im goin to the shop tomorrow the 23rd .
Hey man, you should maybe look into getting some after market struts or if not...sell the coilovers and get ground controls they work very well with the stock struts or maybe some eibach sportlines??? very good springs!!! anyways FYI i went with the Tanabe Sustec Pro S-OC Type 2 Coilovers they are great!!!! good luck with whatever you do man

you should only use springs that are tuned to the corresponding shock..Even if you use ground control on stock shocks they will blow! If a shock is not dampened for the specific spring you use then your wasting your time... You wouldn't eat spagetti with a knife, would you?
ok so how would i go about selling my skunk 2s. I have them brand new in box never been installed. And i would like to either trade or find some decent coilovers for the same price which is about 230 $.
That is a really great price. They normall go for about 1300. But in your case, I'd sell the ground controls. I've seen many people put sleeve coilovers on their rsx's and they are not too satisfied about the ride. The stroke of your factory shock cannot handle the abuse since you will be pretty low. If you're looking for a decent drop then you can go with aftermarket springs. There are other decent full coilovers on the market.
Omnipower, D2, Hayame, and B&G's are some of the companies that have full coilovers under 1000 shipped.

yea great price. I found mine for 1250 shipped which I thought was really cheap through a comparison site.

I've been using the Skunk2 coilovers on many of my builds and have nver had any problems. Never had a saggy spring or any problems at all. Maybe those that have had problems may have either cut the spring, installed incorrectly, or used the wrong spring rate on their car. Some of the skunk2 coilovers are interchageable, such as the civic and integras. The civic spring rates are less than that of the integras and will sag over a period of time if used on the integra. Sorry to hear the damages that some of you have encountered with the Skunk's. Possible manufacture defect?
