I have posted a topic about trying to Run 12's on a Type R..i am trying to find the best set-up to run 12's...I dont like turbo very much because maintaining it I just can not do?...so if any of your R's are running 12's i would appreciate the advice..thanx
just currious but if you wanted to run 12's why did you buy a r and not buy a ls and turbo it lower compression and slightly bigger engine with long tranny loves boost?
I hit 12's with my JRSC with 250whp, and street setup with stock weight.
Its extreamly hard to get power out of these JRSC's. I'm now on my 103rd dyno run and I'm at 264whp now with 9psi. If you would like help with the JRSC just E-mail me. I'll say this its very expensive to get in the 12's with the JRSC on a street type setup. I would say expect to spend over $6000 to get you close. What does that consist of:
JRSC $3000
exhaust/intake system $1000
fuel/ecu setup $1000
clutch/shifter stuff $600
other elec. to tune and help $500
tuning $500-1000
That right their is like $6600-7100 and thats not nearly all the little stuff you might need, plus the tuning amount is really low because since you should never put on all the parts at once, you will have to tune the car to each part itself.
If you just want 12's go NA and do a good cam setup that will make like 200whp. Then take some weight out of the car and slap some slicks on.
Oh yeah and I just noticed that your from NorCal where I'm located. So these numbers, costs, and times should be very close to what you'll find. To my knowlage I'm the only JRSC R thats hitting these numbers with my mild setup in our area or anywhere else. I know of other JRSC R's hitting the same numbers or times with larger setups or fully built engines or stripped out cars.

this setup I had on my first 98 ITR JRSC for type R / AEM cold intake / Comptech ss headers / custom straight pipe / Blitz cat back exhaust / RC 310cc injectors /JR boost timing control / Endyns 3" in blower pulley plus alt.stepper pulley / H&R drag springs / tokico 5 way struts / never got it dyno but ran high 12's all day long (G-Tech) ohh yeah did all the work myself Honda/Acura tech / still miss my baby
I will have 12s in a month - I/H/E, testpipe, Full fuel system, ignition, fuel pump, plugs, clutch, cf hood, 100 shot direct port
I ran a 12sec pass with a GTECH along time ago when I was hitting around 210whp. With 210whp I hit 13.8 on slicks at Sac. town. The GTECH can be accurate, however little things can throw it off a lot. I would use a track time rather then the GTECH if possible. My friends also got a crazy reading of 11's with very very mild mods! lol And yeah the GTECH was positioned right, etc... and this was all done with 3 different GTECH's.
