Default 1996 ITR 4x114.3 Rotor Fitment

I was going through hell when I needed to swap out my warped out *** JDM rotors. Out of all the people that I've met in San Francisco with 96 ITR suspension, everyones had issues with their rotors.

Getting a rotor that directly bolts on is pretty damn hard to find, and sometimes people have problems finding places to re-drill GSR front rotors.

Then people want to upgrade and get the whole 11 inch prelude setup. But I didn't have the money to get the upgraded calipers. And I'd have to shave something as well.

What does a broke *** college student such as myself do? I'll show you what I did. Call me ghetto, but it worked!

First I purchased some non vtec prelude rotors. Brembo cross drilled and slotted. Sure, why not?

By looking at the rotors, you would assume that they were the same size. The prelude rotors were probably a few mm thicker, maybe even a cm or so.

I slapped them on, threw on some new brake pads (Axxis Ultimates), and drove off. What happens? My brakes are stuck, and it starts to squeal.

The squeling noise was coming from my caliper bracket.

The rubbing comes from the front side of the bracket, the rear side seems to clear okay.

Off to borrow some sanding and grinding tools.
An hour and a half later, and after shaving the **** out of the metal brackets...

And finally...

Was the process worth it? Yes. Bling factor for the rims? not really...

The next and only problem you will have next, is breaking in your brake pads. For the first hour or so, my rotor was actually glowing red! I wish I had my camera, but damn that was a cool sight. I hope this will help some of you guys out. Just make sure you don't shave off too much stuff, because the metal shims that the brake pads sit on, won't be able to sit right on the caliper bracket. There are ways around it if you fudge, but you can figure it out on your own or get extra parts if required.

I also did a prelude front brake upgrade, but i opted for the 11" vtec rotors. I ran into the same problem as you did you the rubbing. I choose to go a different route though because i dont like to grind anything that involves my brakes, so i used washers to space the bracket out. Worked perfect.

Or you can order the roters from In line 4 in Garden Grove, California for a great price . One of the guys there has or had a 96 type R. I have the same knuckels on my Ek and whenever I had a problem he was always able to help me out. Nice job on the fabbing but when it comes to brakes doesn't sound very safe. Good luck.

Thats funny, when i e-mailed them, they said that they couldn't get them. No one can get OEM replacements in north america. That is why we have to fab **** up
