Built motor question - after cold start quick revs/blue tint exhaust...
Engine is 12.25:1 compression y8 fully built w/crower stage3 cam etc. etc.
Anyway a few days back it was probably 30-40deg out i had my bro start my car cold, there was no puff of blue but when i had him give it a few quick shots to 3k i could see a slight blue tint to exhaust.
After 2 minutes (i'm guessing once engine warmed up some? rings expanded?) it wouldn't do it anymore when revving and was normal.
Is this normal for cars on cold start? or on a high compression build? It was only a slight tint...
A compression test yeilded 240 across +/- 5psi
Please only post if you have some real insight or know if this is normal...
Thanks guys,
Vince

thats sounds like a commond problem on built motors.u had it right rings do need to expand.ex if the clearance are not factory.and the ring might have not seated yet

Well the engine has 4k miles on it and like i said compression is healthy...anyone else have input from experience?

Depending on the material the rings are made of, it can take longer than 4k miles for them to seat. Also if the cross hatching on the walls aren't proper, it can cause bad seatting too. Best of luck, keep us updated
