Default auto integra vs manual integra

i got a 90 ls auto and it has littl **** like intake 2 1/4 piping and a stock mufler of of some christler turbo car because i was tired of getting puled over for it being loud when i drove it but my car is just as fast as my friends 91 ls manual he has basicly the same mods but he has a header and a 2 1/4 mufler too so is there any reason for this or is it just quick for no reason

The above answers are the only real possibility that your automatic Integra is faster than your friend's manual counterpart. Having an automatic drivetrain makes the car slower by a second or more in the quarter mile.

Just as an example, my automatic 1997 Integra LS was SLOWER than my friend's manual 2001 Civic EX. We both had the same intake, header, and exhaust. Once I converted it to a 5-speed, my quarter mile time dropped by one full second.

I'm guessing he beats his car to death every day.

i beat a 5 speed LS in my auto GS...and all I have is a short ram intake. Granted it wasn't necessarily a complete beating...and granted the road was a lill bit twisty so maybe he didn't go all out, and granted he might have sucked as a driver, and granted maybe his car being lowered caused him to be slower...but it was still a win Mod for mod of course a 5 speed will beat the auto...but if u got more mods possible to win

well thats why I'm not really a fan of drag racing...but this was on a twisty road and I wanted to see how my strut bars would help against a lowered integra...worked pretty well

no an auto is definately slower....it doesnt pull "harder" than a manual....it just seems that way cause the gears are LONG and it takes forever to reach your powerband....

i think there are drag "shift kits" for auto trannys. i dont really know too much about 'em. i've only heard the term thrown around a couple times. they supposedly shift at redline. imagine an automatic gear shift for each gear. perfect speed shifting everytime. but then again, it wouldnt really make a whole lotta sense if u wanna daily drive w/ it

Thats just a different torque converter. TCH makes one that has a higher stall rpm and thinner fins inside for faster shifts.

To the poster (riceboy)...STreet racing pwns ALL...

no, sorry, unless the 18's weigh less then your stock wheels (which i can garuntee they don't) than there is no possible way your car will pull harder with 18's. you may get some better traction, but, just think about it... more weight and larger radius = slower. oh and sorry to burst your bubble, but the ls automatic integra isn't "quick", even with the mods you listed.

Grammar owns you!The only way you are beating little ricers with your i/e auto teg is if your racing auto civics or manual hondas with shitty drivers. Not trying to sound mean but you sound like a "littl ricer" your self.
