...Where do Type R owners park overnight
Unfortunately I have to park my type R outside everynight, and I just wanted to see where do the majority of type R owners park their vehicles. Even though I have the state of the art alarm along with other security precautions, i'm still paranoid.

i parker in a somewhat passing student neighborehood but i don't put my car in eyesite to the passing cars, you need to look in beetween the blocks to see its there, with the autolock and wheels towards the wall and i can here it from my room if the alarm warns me of anything so i'm down for some asskicking...
but i'm lucky to live in a city where theft isin't widespread, my next project is to get a job to buy a house and garage my ***** year round instead of only winter...

yea..too bad i have to park along the curb, my alarm will also warn me in time. I also have the auto lock among other security devices installed. I'm always down for some *** beating.
just make sure to layer your security. i would go as far as parking my R parallel with the street in my driveway. then, i'd put wheels stops on either side. garaging is the best thing to do.

funny, you're just taking a risk. i have already accepted that it is inevitable that my R gets stolen or wrecked.

I know a garage is not available for all owners, and I am not aware of your situation. But I have to say a garage is the best, and *should* be the only place for your R. My first R was even reached by thieves in my garage, but it was an inside job with a kid who I thought was my friend. I will not be getting another if I did not have a garage for it. Best luck. -Shawn

I think common sense goes a long way.
For the first couple of years of its existence, my ITR was my daily commuter because of the impracticality of driving a 6.3 litre Merc every day.
I never had any issues at all, although when the car was new I sometimes had to answer 20 questions at the service station every time I filled up.
(Most annoying question: "Is that a real Type R?" Like I'd drive something that ugly if it weren't real.)
Much of the time I was commuting, I was driving all around NoVA, including inside the beltway in Alexandria and Arlington, and sometimes into DC.
Never a single issue.
No idea why. I dunno. I think sometimes that if you're overly paranoid, or act like you or the car really are all that, that you're going to get into trouble.
I also think that many owners are not discriminating in their choices of companions, and/or overly mean and disrespectful to people who aren't quite as fortunate, and this leads to their minds wandering.
I really don't know.
Nowadays I live out in the country in Virginia, where my friend is currently using the car as his daily driver, and there still doesn't seem to be any problem.
Out here, the citizens are well armed and well-dogged, and have already proved they can hit a moving target even from horseback. You wouldn't be the brightest person in the world stealing cars out here. LOL....
But, anyway, I think that a big part of the theft problem is the atmosphere the owner has around him. I mean, if you're hanging out with street racers, who've already proved they're acclimated to committing willful homicide, it's not much of a stretch to believe that they might stoop to car theft of some kind.
Regardless of with whom you're dealing, however, respect goes a long way to avoiding confrontation and loss. Just because someone's circumstances force him to live on the fringes of society doesn't automatically mean that he's out to get you, and keeping your distance and a respectful attitude can go a long way toward disarming someone who might be inclined to the unethical.

Interesting stuff, some of it is on target.
Your ITR is black, and always dirty, so there's something in your favor. But the company you keep is probably as important, if not more, than where you live.
I try not to hang out with too many car-inclined people, since the whole "six degrees of separation" can really get you.
I also don't take the car to any streetracing spots, clubs, or malls with open parking lots.

Thank you!!! I was beginning to think that no one else in this forum realized this. The common "Dude Where's My Itr" scenario is a sheer result of Friday night antics on the local strip. Granted, there are the isolated incidences of others who don't parade around, but I think that is a major part.
But in all seriousness, it's your car, you should be able to show it off occasionally without paranoia.
Anyhow, my car stays in my garage along with my wife's '93 Impreza wagon so if you must track me down and break into my garage, steal the green car with the chipped paint and shriveled up window tint. It might just have an STI motor in there.

Was it because you were still in it passed out in the driver's seat?!

I'm not gonna answer a question like that from a guy who joined H-T a month ago and is from Cali. Like the other user said; only thieves ask questions like that. If you are an ITR owner you know the risks associated with it. You just gotta be wise in what spots you take.
