i searched...my warranty should go out soon, i only have 36k miles on my 01 itr.
what route have most of you guys gone as far as extending the warranty?
because having 11 grand left on the loan and no warranty will suck..
thanks in advance

warranty is good if you plan on not modding the car too heavily. if you have i/h/e or something, i'm sure you're good to go. with the car not being paid off, gap insurance is always a must.

yeah the car isnt heavily modded just mugen intake, jdm 4-1 w/ godspeed test pipe and twin loop.. i at least have friends in the shop at the dealer
you're lucky they let you do warranty work with that kinda mods, i think buying an extended warranty is a big mistake as far as on a honda vehicule...
I personnally paid 1600 canadian for a 3 year extended on my used 98 R in 2001 and only got 300$ out of it in repairs... so whatever you wanna do man

I'm in the same position. 01 ITR with 22k miles on it and the warranty is up in January. I'm just worried about spending the money on an extended warranty just to have them blame everything that goes wrong on "driver abuse".
My only planned mods for the car are I/H/E, cam gears and a tuning device.

Same position here. 46K miles on it and my warranty is up in April.

I disagree with this quote. My understanding of GAP is that it covers the "gap" in what the insurance company will pay for your car and what you owe on the car. So unless you owe over 10K on the car (which if you owe that much at this point I would suggest thinking about getting rid of it) it isn't worth it.
The R is a slow depreciating car so I think this is a situation where you can go without it.

my only concern is for something to go wrong, costing alot for the part and labor...
like tranny work, timing belt etc.. i dont plan on doing more than what i already have. maybe just some cam gears and fw...plus i dont drive it nearly as hard as i use to..

Honda/Acura Extended Warantee is a F*&king rip off.
I bought it, and they refuse to work on my car all the time.
Last time, my trani is making a noise. They said because I have eibach springs and a comptech flywheel(that they installed) that they cant fix the trani under warantee. They said they dont know if me modifying my car caused the problem, but to find out I have to front $700 for them to take it apart. If they think the danage is due to modifications, I dont get the money back. Sounds like a ******* screw job to me.
This may be the single reason I never buy another honda or acura.

ditto, i had mine extended to 6yr/100km full coverage with roadside assistance.
covers my towing, car rental if necessary, repairs etc.
my only beef is that coverage while i'm in the states is kinda sketchy.

So far jond is the only one to address my fear. What is the point of spending all that money only to have them blame it on driver abuse every time I go in for something.
They also tried to pull that stunt on me with my tranny as well, and I don't have a single mod on the car.

i guess thats why they call it the ""stealership""...ive been pretty fortunate with my dealer.
the funny thing is im good friends with the people in the service dept, if i need something i usually call the service manager..one day i asked him about a extended warranty he said its a waste of my money. to bad that b@%ch in the maxima pulled out in front of me. so he says well you know the guys in the back they will be here for awhile to help you on the side. wtf!!!
like i can depend on that.
