Is it safe to go to a higher octane gas in my car?
I have a 94 Accord EX that has ran regular gas ever since the first mile was put on the car. Would it be bad to try a higher octane and see how it works and would it have any effect on the car what so ever since it was really made to use regular gas? The car has approx. 150,000 miles on it if that has to do with anything.....Thanks....
Higher octane=harder to detonate. All higher octane will do to your car is not detonate early if there's friction. You can do it if you want, but if you've been using 87 or whatnot, i'd only upgrade to 89-91. You wont see any gains but you can do it.
BTW ECUs are generally tuned for a certain octane level in the gas.

ive actually gone out and tried exactly what you are asking here and it really does nothing, just drive up the cost of maintaining and running the caR. What i would suggest is that you get an octane booster and drop it in the tank once per month, besides that, **** the bullshit.
I agree with what the other guys said..... If you aren't having a problem with the car's performance and aren't getting alot of pinging then you don't need to run the higher octane gas. Gas prices are too expensive right now anyway. 87 is fine for most cars unless you have some serious high performance mods. that may require it....
