Default ITA Honda Civic

Has anyone ever tried to build an ITA car out of the 96-98 Civics?

I have yet to see one.

The EX/Si? They were classed in ITS until '05, so nobody wanted one. Got moved to ITA for '05, so I expect to a see a few appear. There are a few NASA-HC guys running them in H3(?).

Yup - effective January, at 2450#. That's about "1 Lyonel" heavier than the previous generation car. If the Golf hadn't been moved to B, I'd have one now.

K

EDIT - since there was no Si (hatch with the EX engine) in '98, it would be either a CX or DX. The CX is in ITC - appropriately - and the DX should probably be in B. I don't know where the H4/H5 cutoff is but the DX might go either way, perhaps depending on its spec weight.

As of right now, both the CX and DX are listed in H5, as they fall into the Civic NOC category. The '92-'97 Civic DX is listed in H5 at 2400# min. weight, which is 400# more than the '88-'91 Civic DX.

Are we talking about the coupe or hatch?

I have briefly looked at the hatch specs and it may be a decent ITB or maybe ITA car since it looks to have a similar engine and HP as the 88-91 Civic/CRX Si. Similar brakes with some not so decent gearing (final drive can be changed but the individual gears cannot be changed).

This was in reference to the '92-'97 CX & DX hatch, as per the NASA CCR. As for SCCA, the online GCR shows the '92-'95 Civic CX (3 door HB) in ITC at 2170# along with the '88-'91 Civic standard (3 & 4-door) in ITC at 2140#. The '92-'95 Civic DX (3 & 4-door) is listed in ITA at 2330# while the '88-'91 Civic DX (3 & 4-door) is listed in ITA at 2225#, but is tabled in the January Fastrack in regards to its reclassification to ITB.

In regards to the original car in question in this thread, the only one listed in the GCR is the '96-'98 Civic EX Coupe at 2450#, as posted above by Knestis. There is no listing in regards to the '96-'98 Civic hatches in any of the IT supps until you get to the '99 Civic Si in ITS at 2360#.

Hope this answers your questions.

Sam, who still can't believe that the '88-'91 Civic DX is listed in the GCR at a heavier minimum weight than the '88-'91 Civic Si (2225# versus 2175#).

alright im just ALITTLE confused here. i think these are just type O or miss information but here we go

1992-1995 the CX and DX have different motor. The CX has a much longer geared tranny, then the DX. The CX also has a TB and IM about the 1.5 inchs in dimater, the DX has a bigger manifold and throttle body. The Cx is also not a 16 valve motor. The HP on the CX is something like 90BHP and the DX comes in some were around 100 or 110 i think.

1996-2000 CX and DX have the same motor, the CX and DX difference are on things like rear wiper, tilt wheel, ect. No major mechanical difference between the two.

Also another thing im not sure on is why everyone stops nameing the hatchs at 98 the same exact car was produced from 96-00 mechanically. the differences came in the front end, and climate control. Also the 96-98 hatch's are marked with yellow on the tail lights. 99-00 hatch's are only red and white.
