Is there a way I can get these white smudges off of the paint of my teg? they look like scratches, but they don't go into the paint, it seems like their just on the surface. Is there a solution I can use or a product I can buy that will help me get these smudges off?

I am trying to prep my car for sale so I can buy a GSR. Is there a bunch of steps to do to help my car sell faster and better? I've never sold a car before and some tips would help alot.

if you want to sell your car fast you better have big body kit , a ten foot aluminium wing and some 20' rims, then that **** will sell quick, but if not just be patient and someone will come along and buy it ...the white smudges problem could be just to wash wax, and buff the car, waxing and buffing takes care of just about any surface imperfection, unless of course it's scratched......

 

i've used Scratch X before to get off some smudges.. did the job

Having all the records of the major services done will give you credibility.
Be ready provide information a potential buyer might ask:
reason you're selling, condition of exterior/interior (detailed describtion of dents/scratches), options on car, title, accidents, backing up your clean title with carfax.com printout might help as well.

And clean your car, don't leave any personal things in the car once it's up for sale.
A full detail of your car would be nice if you got the extra 100 bucks laying around.

White Smudges hey... quit blowing your load on your car will fix that problem hahah lol a buffer will take out stuff that is only on the clear coat, and a good wax job will do the trick.

 

i'd say you should do a full detail.. you can do it yourself if you have the time.. hell i fully detail my car every week.. so if your tryin to sell/get money outta it.. it shouldnt be that big of a deal/problem.. wash the car, claybar it, wash it again, then prep/clean/polish it, and apply a nice coat of wax... this should make it very nice and shiny.. and also give your arms that nice tight feeling like you just worked out (hell they might feel like their falling off cuz you washed and waxed and claybared all in one day)..
also clean the interior.. vacuum, give it a nice carpet deodorizer smell or air freshener, apply some leather conditioner (if your seats are leather), clean and armor all the dash, make sure everything is clean and dust free including windows, air vents, buttons, cup holder, etc.. basically make the car look as good as you want and then be able to verify everything on the car.. coupled with good advertising, its clean looks inside out, and all service records.. it should be hard to pass up..
prepare a nice folder with chronological order records all the way from sale/purchase information, if you still have the dealer catalog, etc... to all the options on the car, maintenance records, and everything else to prove that 1) everything is legit 2) car was well maintained/taken care of.. have all receipts if you did the work yourself.. and note which maintenance the parts bought was done for .. i already have this as i keep very detailed records on all maintenance and all the parts i buy.. if you dont.. it might take a while to put together..

wow, thanks alot. I saw that claybar thing at the store. I dunno if I can wax the car though, its pretty cold here in Alberta at this time. Is it ok?

 

hmm its about 40 degrees here in Cali and i just washed/waxed my car today.. not sure how cold it is where you are.. but yeah. if your tryin to sell it. make it look great.. hehe i also claybar my glass/windows.. it makes the rain sheet right off.. works better than rain X.. and doesnt provide that haze like rain x.. but ur selling the car.. so u prolly dont care hehe.. you might wanna clean the underside of the hood too.. so when the prospective buyer pops it open. their like WoW this foo takes good care of this car.. hehe.. and have all the records. .oh wellz.. i listed all that above. .hope it helps..
