RWD Civic info and suggestions needed.
i have a 97 hatch chassis that i could use, but id rather take my chances with a 96+ coupe just because theres more for me to fab on. instead of the S2000 motor id rather use a B18C
however, what would it take besides a 4 link rear suspension to make a civic rwd. i understand all the obvious stuff like custom driveshafts and all. so what tranny could i use? i want something simple and dont plan on putting a TH350 onto a b motor or anything silly. i just want a good, rwd street car that i can take to the drags or do some drifting passes with.
someone help me out. im open to any theories, suggestions or comments.

My honest suggestion is get a RWD car. A RWD civic is probably going to make a shitty drifter anyway. An AE86 or a 240 would make things a lot easier. Just think of the bullshit of mounting a FWD motor in a RWD configuration, too. Then what trans to use, what rear end, where to mount the suspension to the body, etc.
I love RWD, I have an 86 Corolla that I have plans to put an SR20 in. An SR20DET is capable of 400+ whp with only bolt-ons and turbo upgrades, something that can't be said for a honda motor.
I'd like to hear some other suggestions, but for my money, it's a lot easier to start with a well designed RWD car instead of trying to make your own out of something not intended to be one.

Gonna have to agree here. If you just want a fun street car that's RWD there's so many options out there that make more sense than a Civic project. If you're really set on it then go ahead but go all out man. If you go through with all that and end up with a <200whp b-series motor it's not gonna be worth it. And no offense but you're not gonna find anything worth while on HT except the couple huge threads on RWD projects.

not hard to make my own motor mounts. id probably use the rear end off of an S13. id probably have to do a 4 link to mount suspension. but in actuality, i dont want a 4 link rear suspension.

A 4 link isn't bad, but it's far from ideal. The S13 rear end would be good, too. What are your plans on the motor mounts, as there's not much to mount to on the sides of the motor. I was trying to think of a way to do that a few weeks ago.

id just hate doing the S2000 motor and tranny.

well, i know b series like the back of my hand. k motors are still like reading spanish to me. i can read it, but i really cant put it all together like i could english.
b series' do spin the wrong way. however, me and st00pid talked it over and theres ways around it to make the motor spin clockwise. something like grinding cams to make it flow for clockwise spinning, dry sumping the oil and using an electric water pump. but then again, maybe ill use a k motor after all. i still have to start getting the chassis ready anyways so ill have time to think about it.

Why not just put the K motor in the back facing in the same direction it faces up front??? Have a header custom fabbed (majorly) and an exhaust too. It's early and I may be neglecting some key points, but those are my thoughts on the K setup.
