Default why donīt come more Honda-bikes with VTEC?

I wonder why not a motorcycle like the CBR comes with aggressive VTEC cams? I know I know, the new Honda VFR ot VTR, I think has VTEC.

dont know, probaly for the same reason (most) bikes dont have turbos. I drove a bike with a turbo one time (forget what it was) and i downshifted comin around a turn, the turbo spooled and it slid the damn back end out from under me....scared me pretty bad too

The VTEC system on the new VFR is not anything like the VTEC on any Honda car.
Out of Vtec mode, the VFR only operates on 2 valves per cylinder, VTEC opens the other 2 valves.

You don't want a bike to "suddenly" increase torque and HP while in the middle of the powerband.

The VFR VTEC is only the first two stages of the three stage VTEC.

Its not really worth it when you consider that most sports bikes spend their time in the last two thirds of the rev range. Most bikes like the R's etc are made to win production championships not be torque monster road bikes.

What about turbo powered bikes? I have not heard about roadability issues with turbo spool. Is this a problem??? I've heard this raised before, and unless this happens in a turn, I don't see a problem. Clue me in.

how much of the time are you running down a perfectly straight road? I said it before and ill say it again...that turbo spools mid turn and its gunna lay itslef over if your not a VERY VERY good driver. And hell, it only takes once to kill you. Dont you think 100 hp+ is enough on a sub 500 pound vehicle?

Take a look the new turbos out for the R1 and blade etc. Naf all lag and about 70 HP for around Ģ4000. The old Kwak 750t was crap and slower on the road than its sibling, then the 900 destroyed it. Nowadays with suck through turbos they are much more efficent and reliable. Plus the science has moved on so composites etc are readily available.

I would not be crazy enough to roll on that much power in a turn. Most people don't ride that way. At least the ones that live to ride again

im not saying that your rolling on the power in the corner, think about downshifting, the revs go up , and the turbo can spool as can VTEC engage

End of the day no-one is going to make a bike that has the characteristics of a GP bike. But with a turbo there should be no real issue with it 'spooling' as the new turbo's are much smaller and more efficient. If you are racing then you will be using the 'powerband' which is where all the power is and the turbo will be running. Turbos are fun but i think more of a curiosity than anything else.
