Default Another Type R owner gone

I was on my way home tonight and my friend calls me up and tells me that Chris our buddy with a 97 R ogt into an accident while street racing earlier that night and died. I dont know the details yet and couldnt find a link about the news story but when I find out more I'll post it.

Just keep him and his family in your prayers tonight.

That sucks. Another reason why racing should be kept and left at the tracks.

Condolences to the family

I hate seeing posts like this. I cannot imagine what the family must be going through after getting a phone call like that.

In a way its good reading these because it truly makes you look at street racing in a totally different light.

My prayers go out to his family during this tough time.

everyone knows who was wrong or what not so lets keep the criticism to a minimum...my prayers goes out to his family. I hope everyone who hasn't learned from this will learn it well. A car is replaceable but not a life.

while I agree with you on this point, I think this hushing/silencing of criticism should not happen, as for if a large enough stink is made about it, less people may be inclined to do so.

regards to the family.

no matter what you say, people will still street race.

sucks to hear however, and life should come before property EVERY TIME. and just because someone street races on occasion does NOT make them a bad person, so the criticism should be kept to a minimum. dont trivialize a mans life just be cause he bent the law sometimes.

So when someone bends the law and shoots someone... we should still have happy thoughts about them?

I'll be honest guys... I have no sympathy for this kid. He was breaking the law and doing stupid ****... he received the consequences of his actions. The second I begin to feel sympathy for him, is the moment that I start to allow street racing to become something thats... acceptable.

0 tolerance for street racing. All it does is raise our rates from the accidents deaths and more importantly Kills people. Sometimes even killing people that have nothing to do with it.

The only people that we should feel sorry for is his family. Period.

To paraphrase Mark Donahue -

"A race car driver accepts what he's doing is inherantly dangerous,

the regular guy on the highway has no idea what he is doing is dangerous nor does he want to accept that fact."

So sad but so true.

A lesson for those street racing people on this board, you not only risk your own life, but the lives of innocent people... It's just not worth it the excitement

well, way to be compassionate. *******.

street racing is going to happen whether you like it or not. its been happening for over 50 years....and while yes, it does occasionally end up in tragedy, it very often occurs without a hitch. the area in which i live is full of well planned/conducted street racing. of which i play no part in anymore because i cant afford to "do the time" if i get caught. i would rather run at the track myself, but i still dont look down or act like a preachy ******* because of it. if you want to compare it to someone shooting and killing a person, id like to refer to an instance i know of. one of my wholesale accounts has damn near gone out of business cause the owner was shooting at a range with his son and his son accidently shot him. does that mean that his son is a bad person because there was an accident while doing something potentially dangerous? or that his father deserved to die?

no. life is not black and white, right or wrong. its shades of grey.

Quoted for the historical records

So we are preachy ******** eh... because we have the ***** to admit what we do is dangerous and take the necessary steps to prevent harm to others?

Street racing has been going on since the car was invented... and people have been dying from it just as long. Innocents die along the way though... those loses are UNACCEPTABLE. I could care less if another street racer dies... all it does is make the streets safer. One less idiot who thinks they are gods gift to driving... off the road.

And when they were at the range... they went through a safety course and signed waivers accepting the risk. It was also a controlled environment... you don't see this post as a "Another Type R owner died at the RACE TRACK" (BTW I know about gun ranges because I make use of them... i don't go downtown at night to the local shot-em ups...)
