Ok, I've been having trouble with the R for a while. It has been hesitating a little when I hit VTEC. I took it to the dealer to get it fixed and to have my valves adjusted. When I got it back the problem was worse and it was missing really bad until the car got warmed up. This Christmas vacation I took it back to them to figure out what the problem is. After having the car for 3 days the told me I could come and pick it up, but that they didn't find anything wrong with it and it wasn't throwing a code. Here's the kicker, I wanted a tech to drive the car since it was cold, the moment he cranked it up he was greeted by a glaring check engine light. That's funny I thought to myself, I didn't bring the car in with the light on, but they when they say I can come pick it up it has one. Anyway we preceded to drive the car and it was missing worse than it ever has before. The technician who wasn't the one who had been working with it was shocked and even said that it was "running like ****". He decided to look into it.
A few hours later they come get me and show me my spark plugs. The #1 cylinder plug was completely destroyed, as in there was NO electrode or anything. He says that this is the worse he has ever seen a plug. I was like great, I mean don't you love knowing that your cylinder got really hot, I know I do. The thing is that I had just changed plugs 2 months ago and they were fine. Then the last time I was at the dealer I had them change the plugs again just for the heck of it and within a few weeks one of them was completely melted...hmmmm. Anyway they decided to change the plugs. After waiting for another 3 hrs I went back to see what the hold up was........there wasn't any. My car had been done with about 2 1/2 hrs ago and they had frogotten to tell me. Thanks alot guys. That solved the big misfiring problem, but it's not over yet. On the way home today my car cut a few times before completely shutting off then started back up again and didn't show any signs of problems after that. Good job Acura, looks like you fixed everything
. Well I do have SO-3's, Hawk HPS pads, and Type-R rear strut tower brace to keep me a little content. Oh yeah, hope everyone had a good Christmas.

if its a warranty, which it probably was, then they will do whatever they can to get the costomer happy for the time being.

Bingo, Dave's right - my suggestion - hook with honda-tech members who will work for
lol
**** the Acura dealers. I'm sure you get the best service if you drive a RL or TL or NSX. If you drive a lowly Integra, they won't give you the time of day. Both of the Boston Area dealers I went to suck moosecock.
One of them took my header off to replace the oil pan and stripped the stud off the block and denied it, blaming the shop that installed the header. Funny, all the studs and bolts for the header were intact when I dropped the car off. The other one replaced my dashboard during an insurance claim and they didn't reconnect/readjust the heater cable so the heater was always on. My headunit was stolen. They also couldn't figure out why the clock didn't work even after replacing it... turned out they didn't check the fuse under the hood.
What a bunch of monkeys

i went in today to get my driver's seat chekced out because for some reason, its twisted so that im sorta sitting sideways...anyway my backs been hurtin on the 400 mile trip from home to school and back...
they were like i dont see a problem.
well if u take out the seat, u can see its twisted.
15 minutes later...
i dont see a problem.
did u take outt he seat?
well...no..
with air tools it takes 2 seconds...they finall took it out, and after another 10 minuntes of saying they didnt see it they finally "saw" it, and ordered new ?rails? to straighten it out? I just want a new seat dammit

LOL I'd be more concerned with HOW that fuse popped.

Wow, lots of horror stories.... I've never had a problem with the dealership, whether it was in Pittsburgh, Albouquerque, or SoCal...... Albouquerque was great though, the mechanic was a former owner of not one, but two type R's.
Acura Boston SUCKS, Go to Acura Framingham see Jim Brown
I thought it was so funny when you said that.
It sucks that this happened to ActiveAero and a bunch more of you guys as well.
2 things, I've had Nothing but great cutomer and professional service from my dealership Schaller Acura in Manchester Ct. My Saleswoman was Amy Cromack. She did such a good job when I got my PY that when I needed a new one after my accident she located and secured a NBP within 7 minutes of my call.
Their Tech Brian Caughlin s one of the most courteous and knowledgeable I've delt with at a dealership.
I delt with Schaller when I moved to Manchester but, since I've moved back to NY I will either ONLY go back to them for any warrenty issue or I use The Meccanic shop North In Salem NY.
I have had very poor service and diagnois from Curry Acura and Acura of Bedford Hills in NY. Unless it was a serious emergency like when I needed to get my wrecked car estimated I would NOT use either Curry or Bedford.
As per repairs and warrenty issues for Acura's and Honda's and even aftermarket modification work I suggest Manchester Honda in Manchester CT. They do great work, don't overcharge, are timely will either install aftermarket mods or will assess aftermarket installations for repair when pertaining to warrenty issues.
I agree that most dealerships are not honest and usually do less than perfect work But, I also believe that if someone does right by you then you should tell the whole world.
Manchester Honda=
Schaller Acura=
Good luck guys,
Anton
