Default Where to mount the ECU

As a result of the full cage in my car the ECU no longer has a home. Now the fabricator wleded the bracket directly to my cage, which I thought was ok, but there is a ton of vibration coming through the car/cage and I am afraid that I am going to rattle the ECU apart!

I also need to think about rain as the passenger side window must be open.

Where is everyone mounting the ECU? I am sure this is a fairly common problem.

Thanks!

Keep it off the floorboard..... if it rains, the ECU will get wet!

Modified the factory bracket & welded it to the passenger firewall area. Like RJ sez, up there to keep it dry.

In model boats we use tupper ware to keep things dry....... You may be able to fab a cake box into something. LOL worth a try

I am not sure about the tupperware idea, but couldn;t I buy those rubber shock mounts to remove unwanted vibration? I would imagine I could, but can I find them in metric. That's the million $ question!

I used three of those huge 1/2" wide try wraps and strapped mine to the underside of the heater blower, with a 3/4" thick piece of dense foam between the ecu and blower. This was meant to be a temp. solution until I could fab a bracket, but it has stayed secure for over a year!

Well since this is an IT car and it still has a dash I don't think that location will work! Any other suggestions?

I am not sure I have the right mental picture of where it is now mounted that is in danger of water damage but on the vibration, I cut some some soft rubber padding and used them between the floor and the ECU mounts (cause I had lost an ECU and thought it might have been a contributing factor - not sure it really was actually).

Why not? The dash & heater core would still be able to mount up. If that is indeed Andre's car, there is a dash installed in the finished product.

Does anyone know where you can find rubber mounts that I can mount the ECU to? I am thinking this is the best setup myself...

I don't know where in CT to get them. When I was there I couldn't find a go kart shop......But out here in CA You can get some rubber go kart seat bushings that are like half inch thick....... My MSD box came with some rubber mounting bushings.....Try a speed shop

why then you would'nt have 7-8 posts asserting that fact thereby limiting your possible exposure
