JGTC US Teams
There's a 107% rule. Meaning that the slowest car can not be more than 7% slower than the fastest car in the class.
I honestly don't think any DC2 or DC5, doesn't matter how much mod it has, can meet this rule.

Yeah, there is definitely no chance.
Using the ALMS GT polesitter from Mid-Ohio to represent GT300, you get a pole time of 1:22.909. 107% equals a 1:28.712 cutoff for Mid-Ohio. Kiwi's best qualifying time from Mid-Ohio was a 1:41 flat.

That is the first I've heard of GT200.
I suppose they could always just add a Honda Cup class, I'm sure the turnout would be no different than any of points events would be.

I don't really think there is a class that closely matchs the rules of JGTC. So that means if there are cars running from the US they are one off, fun cars for people with lots of money. or its a car that meets the rules but is just slower then the rest. After reading some articles on the series its kinda nuts and the expense seems really high. But i like how succesfull it is
practice times at the bottom of the link. i dont think the guests will make the 107% rule...

It's similar to the Grand Am course but there's a kink at "Turn 1" of the oval and the track leaves the oval before Turn 2, compared to the Grand Am course where the track leaves the oval just before the midpoint of the back straight.
It would be cool to compare lap times. The top Rolex cars were doing 1:30-1:32 and the top Grand Am Cup cars were in the 1:47-1:49s.

This is actually the AMA Superbike course. I got the cornerwork for the Superbike race last spring, at Cal Speedway. Very cool.

I know Paul Lambert was thinking about converting one of his WC cars however it was on such short notice I don't think there was enough time. He'll be there with the ForcedFed Evo MR for time attack at least, and give lucky guests rides.
only american team out there was Geoff escalate in his Porsche(winner of last years 25 hour overall, and numerous 3 hour enduros). Unfortunately for the americans, it wasn't much of a show.
the GT300 cars FLEW by the porsche like nothing, let alone the GT500 cars.
From what i've observed, the Japanese are just something else.
So basically the porsche got passed by GT cars like he passes Honda's haha

from everything that i hear... these JGTC cars are no joke. i used to hear how some ppl talk trash about all japanese do i emulate the UK ppl. but i think they've gotten very very good now.
I felt that the porsche was just out of his league. Which is awkward for me saying that because he is usually kicking most teams' asses at local endurance races and even the first 25 hour, haha. It was just amazing to see how fast those GT cars truly were.
The GT cars are NO freaking joke, they are damn amazing machines and the crews are completely focused. While standing in Mugen's pit you could see the fuelers stretching, getting pumped and trying to focus...
I will definitely go to another JGTC race in the future. I truly hope to see an F1 race one day, that would be awesome especially after seeing the 2000 Ferrari F1 chassis today, woo hoo 1332lbs and over 800hp !!

i dont know where anyone got the idea that the GT cars are anything remotely close to a joke. these guys are top league, the series is well structured for innovation and engineering and racing. quite frankly the "parity" between gt300 and gt500 is what allows a lot of the racing excitement as they have to deal with different speeds. (as opposed to f1) these cars are tube framed, all carbon fiber shell, huge amounts of aero, highly tuned engines running on high octane fuel, and top shelf professional drivers. no, no joke at all.

it has to do with japanese racing history. Japan's never reallly build any cars themselves to compete in other more prestigeous series. Typically they use UK race car builders to do that. For example, touring car and WRC programs are all built in UK mostly. The only real racing out fit is DOME Racing. The lack of respect for Japanese is the reason DOME exists. Of course their dream is to do an All-Japan F1 effort. Which has not done exactly that well yet. Even DOME's sports car results is described respectable at best.
I haven't really read into much about the technology behind JGTC and who the builders are...
