Cheapest way to achieve 200 whp
Hi, I know you guys might not like this question but I'm gonna post it anyway if one of you wants to answer it.
I would like to know what is the cheapest route to get 200 whp.
Turbo d16
swap (which one)
turboed swap
n/a d16
n/a swap
?!?! I will start my project in a couple of months and I would like to be informed a bit on honda engines and potential etc. My ultimate goal is 200 whp I know it won't come cheap but there must be a specific way that will come in cheaper than others.
Thanks

learn how to tune.
done 250whp easy.

A turbo D16 with NICE tuned kit will run well under $2K, assuming you have a D16 already...
The only swaps in that range are the B18B and B16, neither come close to 200hp even at the crank. Any swap even with 200 crank hp will run at least double the cost or more.

to answer your question simply, nitrous is always the cheapest way to achieve horsepower. Depending on how you want that 200 hp would be the next logical question (constant like built NA or Boost, or on tap like nitrous when needed).
Doing a search and combining it with common sense will answer nearly every question you will ever have on this site.

just a note,
from what i've read over the years,
200whp is really the maximum a dseries block is going to handle reliably.
of course there are always exceptions, there are folk who run more than that and
for some reason their motor takes it gladly.
but for most, you really don't want to push any past that point.
great tuning or not, the rods are just too weak.

drive off a cliff...0-60 in like 3 sec. you only get one shot though.
I took the swap (B18C JDM ITR) in my 94 coupe...I was satisfied for about 6 months running 14.90's -15.00's...then I went turbo

then spend the 500-700 bucks on rods and pistons and then shoot for more hp.
