Default ls/vtec girdle - do I need it??

What are everyone's opinions on girdles for ls/vtec builds? Im looking at the Golden Eagle kit, which includes the girdle, gsr main bolts, windage tray and oil pickup, and its around $380. My motor is a NA ls/vtec, with ctr pistons, etc...basically a high compression NA motor.

Is the girdle worth the cost? Also, the info says "All girdles MAY require block align boring AFTER install!" What is block align boring?

Thanks

Alfred

on my opinion is not necessary, but..
they say you might have to line bore since torquing the girdle down might distort(egg shape) the mains.
also make sure the girlde is dowelled.
Also if your going to do it i would use a 5 main girdle instead of 3

unless you are making over 600whp, you don't need one. Lisa Kubo, in her old ls/vtec days, never had to use a girdle.

I cant imagine going any higher that 9k.

Also, it's alot more than $150, because you also need a gsr oil pan and oil pickup, gsr main bolts, and if you going to do it right, dowls to correctly line up the girdle, Im guhessing around $400 total. But it sounds like its a good investment....

I am having a stock GSR girdle and the LS caps machined to fit. The LS block and crank is not designed to rev very high. Do it.
