Does anyone have any info on the NOPI Road Race Schedule for 2005?
pffft. Neons on a Porsch-a. What a red-neck you are. Don't you know the only thing you can put on a teutonic car are air bags? Come on, I thought everyone knew that.

This is a joke, right? Is there really a NOPI road race event of any kind? Is it a reality TV series?
On a barely related note: at NOPI last year, BF Goodrich had a driving experience set up for the masses. Their tires against a competitor's in matching pairs of cars on a typical parking lot auto cross course. Anyone could play, and the line was a mile long for the chance to beat on someone elses Nissan 350Z, Dodge SRT-4 and one other pair of cars. All you had to do to qualify was show a valid driver's license and blow thru a breathalyzer.
So I asked the PR guy if there were many people failing the breathalyzer test. "Oh yeah," said the PR dude. "One guy could barely stand by the time he got to the head of the line for the test. He blew a point two-five..."
Ah, NOPI. Where else could you find a Chevy S-10 with a Nissan SR20DET swap with a convertible top...in a burnout contest?

Some NOPI rep last year made a press release about a dual oval - road race event schedule in 2005 with each race getting 15k in prize money. I was just following up.
RJ - Actually the 550 spyder will be getting a new Jap GT3 like wing in the back to help the 110 hp (90 at the wheels) put down some more power. The 356's (all 5 race cars) will be getting the neon lights with some type r badges.
The 356 speedster 001 fab car will be getting the T3/4 turbo kit. Boost will be held at .000103 bars to ensure reliablility. There's nothing like a good ole 25k engine rebuild.
Getting a 2 liter 914 will be a major step up for us. Someone post 1959 would be great to drive!

I thought they were adding an import series next year. I will shoot off some emails. I will let you know if I find any more information about this series.
Well, after my experiences doing race support type stuff with SCCA and NASA at such NOPIness events (NOPI Nationals, hizzyfests...) I can say without hesitation that I'll be staying away from these events in the future. Regardless of the race or the prize money.
The NOPI crowd just ain't my type of people. I've tried it, 3 times, and its just not going to work. 90% of those people make me wish I had a grenade handy, and I'm not a violent person y0.
But the whole Captain Rev Limiter thing was fuggin hIlarious, mostly because I was sleeping soundly in a hotel room.
Scott, whos peeps know that big wings slow down FWD Civics with 110whp.

Looks like the 914 1.6 (or is it a 1.7? I'm not up on my 914 stuff) is going to ITC. Thats going to be a nasty ITC car. I know of one guy whos already got one in the works.
Might want to do that instead of a 2.0.

Thanks Catch for the info. Currently the team I'm involved with runs in HSR (Historic Sportscar Racing). Having the 2.0 914 allows me to run in Rolex Dash, enduros and the Klub Sport races on the same weekend.
After the announcer assclown that travels with the NOPI drag races told my sister to take off her clothes at and shake her *** at an afterparty this summer, I have no respect at all for NOPI (well, they didn't get any from me anyways).
If NOPI has a road racing event for imports, I'll build a weather machine to **** rain and hail at every NOPI event.

The only series they are backing is the dying Dash series. They're basically your typical oval track cars with 9:1 V6 engines. There's a few Toyota-powered cars running there and the rest are Fords & Chevys.

The series has been in a downward spiral IMO, with Ipower buying the series from NASCAR a couple of years ago.
NOPI put out a press release promising an expansion into road racing and some updates to the cars, but not much has been said since.
