Speedo won't work
I recently installed some indiglos in my 98 Accord 4 cyl. After I put everything back together none of the gauges were working properly. I got em all back except the speedometer. It has power, but it just wont move when I accelerate. The rpm, gas, and temp. are all fine now, but i can't figure out what the problem is with the speedo. Anybody else that has had this problem or know what it could be please let me know. Thanks
If you are askin' if i touched it to try to move it yes. I tried everything as far as that goes. If you mean when I put the gauges on yeah, i had to take the needles off to get the gauges on. I tried forever to slide them on leaving the needles on, but there was no way it was gonna happen. I forgot to mention, when the engine is off, I can move the speedo to any MPH and as soon as i turn the car on, it will automatically go back to 0. That is why I can't figure out what could be keepin' it from reading when I accelerate. Thanks again
well dunno if this will help, but when I installed my indiglos, the tach woudln't move cuz it was STUCK! it has to be able to move freely when you blow air on it while the car is off, for it to move like it should when the car is on..
I have done that and I know that it isn't stuck!! It just will not frickin' move when the car accelerates!! It will move freely anytime you touch it, it is just like it isn't gettin' the speed signal or something, but there is no way that something like that could have happened just by installin' some indiglos. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
I don't think you are supposed to take the needles off when you do those gauges. I've never had too. Most Hondas, if you take off the needle, the gauge is ruined.
I'll have to agree with Hidperf. I researched doing this to my 98 coupe and realized I just didn't want to fuss with it and didn't want to pay somone else $100 to do it for me (call me cheap). Regardless, everywhere I read (honda, internet, couple of aftermarket shops, etc) all said that you shouldn't remove the needs.
The 'pin' that they are pushed on to may not be in the same place (rotation wise) when go to put them back on, unless you figured out a way to make sure they don't move/spin.
You may want to consult an aftermarket shop that does this to see if they have any suggestions (other than the obvious).
Sorry..

I appreciate the help and suggestions. If there was any way to get them on with out removing the needles I would have done it. TRUST ME!! It would have ruined the gauge faces. I am probably going to take them to an import shop where I live. I know a guy there and they can do just about anything, if my problem is fixable!! However, one of my friends has talked to someone and they said they had the same problem and he got his fixed so I am hoping he knows something.
