I'm going to have around $10K by the end of this month, and having a hard time looking for one of these good car.
Found two that I've narrow down, but mostly favor the RSX TS.
2002 RSX Type S with 66K miles for $11500
2002 Civic Si with 32K miles for $11000
Both are clean title and are from original owner.

You gotta roll the "mini, mini van." I have almost always gone for lower miles if torn between two cars with similar prices.

The 200 HP Type S will be a nicer car overall. More fun, and the same economy as the Si.
However, the EP3 Si is kind of a cult car. It's one of the most unpopular Honda ever sold in the USDM, and some of us like them and drive them just to be stubborn and/or for the kitsch value. It's a neat little car that's fun to have as a daily driver, but the Type S is the nicer of the two.

I went from an EP3 to a RSX-S. While the EP3 was nice, it just isn't the same caliber of car as the RSX-S.

Sure the mileage is lower, but you're looking at the difference of 200hp vs. 160hp. I don't know.. haven't really driven a RSX much or long enough to value the car. I like my EP. Especially the shifter.

Your basically deciding on a base model RSX, or a Type S. I would go with the Type S for the looks, power, handeling, factor. Of course make sure it is in perfect condition with a good maintence history.
It's okay, absolutely nothing wrong with the RSX type-s. I have an EP3, 2004, and love it. Its nice having something different though very capable with enough love, but in terms of off the bat power, i can understand going with the type s. Unfortunately for me I wont be able to go up the ladder next for my following car, im getting an S2000, yea!
I've got an 02 Type S and love it as much now as when she was bought in 01, but I am looking to buy an EP3 as a DD as my GF drives the Acura, and I am sick of worrying about my EG getting jacked everytime I come to work, or go anywhere.
Honestly, I love my EP3, i think it's a nice upgrade from my EG, however, if I had to do it all over again, I would wait till I graduated and pick up a TSX. It's a nice car, but it still seems like a toy. The RSX is a nice car, but it's still not as nice as a TSX, in terms of functionality and luxury. If I were to do it again, it would most definitely be an RSX-S.

Why do you think the RSX handles better?
They're both McPherson designs and the EP3 has a better polar moment of inertia.

Why are they selling those cars? Check to make sure everything is working properly as well. It all depends on your future plans. For power, I would stick with a type-s.It is a better bang for the buck. I'm building the suspension on my ep3 now for Road Course Racing. I agree not many people like the ep3.I'm attracted to its design and rare looks. Its not a DC or EG, but its new, safe and rarely stolen. Good luck with your decision!

Does it really? I didn't know that. Is the RSX engine farther out front or something?

Yes, I think because the RSX has a little more body overhang in the rear.
In the grand scheme of things, it isn't that much of a difference and the newer cars are a PITA to get to rotate like the old wishbone chassis cars anyways.

Oh, got it. I wouldn't have thought that the body overhang in the rear would've made that much of a difference compared to say, something like a really heavy part like an engine. And IIRC, the wheelbase of both cars is identical.
OT: Are you playing with your RSX in ST? Any better luck than you had with the EP?
Going back to the original question - when I was looking for a car, I drove the RSX-S and the Si back-to-back. I really liked the RSX but just couldn't justify the $5K+ price tag difference (back then EP's were about $17K and the S was about $22K) between them. Also, I'm a big fan of hatchbacks and like the interior space of the EP a bit more. Bottom line - you really can't go wrong with either one. What I'd really love is the TypeS engine in the EP.
