Pros are that they look the best, and have a large aftermarket support...

Cons, are they are old, hard to come by(clean) and are hated on alot

The ONLY thing I dont like about the ED's is there climate control breaks easy, they have cable trannies(not there fault, old technology), and there hood should bulge up like the EF's (not down )

Thats it!!!
Otherwise there perfect!!

Compared to other generations of Civics...
Pros:
Light weight
Cheap entry price
Cool early 90's styling...
Low Cd (.30)
Excellent gas mileage
Option of adding tons of Rare JDM stuff (only to impress fellow Honda Civic owners who can tell the Difference between an ash try and a personal box)
Cons:
Old Age: squeaks, rattles, rust, dings, leaking weather-stripping, worn out seats, $$ paint jobs, worn out bearings & bushings, ripped up carpet, the list goes on and on...
Overpriced for what you get because its a Honda (I saw a very clean stock 91 Si sell for almost $6k on ebay)
Small interior
Older style ECU and electronics that aren't easily upgraded
Aftermarket parts are NOT as easy to find as newer Civics
Gay front lower control arms with strut rods and less suspension travel
Small under hood
Stock engines aren't very impressive (DPFI )
Newer civics’ could possibly (GRM) have a more ridged chassis.
Relatively unsafe (depending on how you define relative)

pros:fuel efficient (i get 33 mpg). Great looking cars relative to their time. Very lightweight. Extremely large aftermarket. Amazing supension for an economy car, independent front and rear vs. macpherson strut and beam axle in the back. Best visibility of any car i've ever driven.
cons:hard to earn respect. Will not give you any status. Rattles and squeaks common. Rust High price sometimes. Very few amenities.

For me, pros are it's light and the ZC bolts in and it was cheap,

cons are then again the b series bolts to the newer ones, I do get hated on alot, mostly by dumbshits who don't know anything about cars, and if I get in an accident I already signed my death certificate when I signed the title.

I love my little car though.

My car looks like a piece of **** and no one wants to steal it. I see many more "stolen: [insert poor lost car here]" threads in the EG+/del sol forum. Don't know if it reflects actual numbers.

edit: my SI had more amenities than my 2001 sunfire did. I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought it. I knew I would get no respect, but ya know what **** all the haters. Once the b16 gets in there the haters will be a good 10-12 car lengths behind you, out of sight and out of mind.

You'll get respect from knowledgeable people if you know what you're talking about.
The other day I pulled up to the pump next to a nice boosted talon TSi. He asked if my car was quick, and I said no, explained situation (70HP cx engine, like that when I bought it) and that I was saving up for a b16. He replied, "Ah. Good choice. Hope the swap goes well."

Just don't be a ricer, and thats all you have to worry about.

Pro;

Light weight an a good selection of engines that can be legally swapped in.

Clean body style.

Reasonable price, but you have to look for quite some time to find a clean one.

Con;

I'd really rather have a rear wheel drive car (but can't stomach the style of the Toyota Corolla AE86!!!! GAG, GAG)

I don't like the fact that Honda sells "assemblies" and not parts!! Want to buy a third gear syncro, you have to buy a complete assembly for $280.

I don't like the fact that Honda is starting to drop items for the car. Dang, it's not that old!!

Wes

Where did you find this information, I'd like to know more. Nice bragging points...

And is that for the hatch or which model?

Pro..small, compact, but still roomy at the same time...also no blindspots.

Con..now pretty old, most rusted out, b series engine swaps need mount kits, custom axles, etc...

I drive a rusty, paint chipping, oil burning, suspension creaking 90 Si....but I still love the thing. I'm keeping my eyes open for a nice 89-91 Si hatch or CRX...but damn a clean one rust free is hard to find for a *good* price.

Ok here it goes:

Price= 88-91
Style= Toss up
Condition of cars= 92+
Street points= 92+
Gas mileage= toss up
Wieght= 88-91
played out= 92+
overrated= 92+
Fun to drive= 88-91
Performance= toss up (88-91 is lighter making any engine in those cars faster, but its alot easier due to hood space and ground clearance to put a bigger engine in a 92)

basically, 88-91's are just simply fun and unique, (along with 85-88) but ur not gonna win car of the year in any high school notables though.

I swear...if honda reproduced a 89-91 civic hatch or CRX I would buy one in a heartbeat. Those cars are what honda was all about. Not all these big bloated cars they make now.

I love EVERYTHING about my EF more than the newer cars, with one PITA known as "the front cross-member" !!!

Wait, one more... We have to drop are tanks to get to the fuel pump... Other than that, I'd take a new 91 civic H/B over a new 00' Si coupe... Sad, but true.

Pros:
Easy, very easy to make into a high 13 to mid 14 sec car.
Overall, fuel efficient, kinda fast, easy to upgrade, and a great car to learn how to DIY.

Cons:
Due to age, you will have to replace most of the mechanical and electrical parts.

As for respect, I could careless about what some kid thinks, earn respect at the track.

The advatage that our generation has over the EG Civics is that those things have such an inflated price for stock ones, it is a JOKE. Just a quick browse through auto trader. com will reveal that those things are way overpriced.

CRX Si and HF have a CD of .30. The Dx has a CD of .29. (probably b/c of the lip, dunno)

I think that's the lowest of any honda........maybe not the insight, but i'm not 100% sure.
