here is the new RSX Supercharger
HyTech has just finished its prototype supercharged system for the RSX type S. It utilizes a screw compressor. Unfortunately we can only show you the supercharger and not the whole kit at this time.
What is a screw compressor? A screw compressor actually compresses the air inside of its housing. An Eaton or roots type is just an air blower. The differences between the screw and roots chargers are. The roots is only good to 5 lbs of manifold pressure after that the efficiency goes down. The screw is good to 30 lbs. The screw type is quieter and has a lower discharge tempature than the roots does. The only down side is, it is more expensive.
Our kit is also unique in that the intake manifold will have a intercooler system inside it. The system is from Sweden and is brand new. It has the lowest pressure drop across its core and it is 85% efficient. Those are extremely good numbers. Why intercool it. Because of the high compression of the RSX type S, the lower the intake temp is, the less chance of detonation. It will also come with a plug and play ECU upgrade to control the engine management system. It will control the fuel curve, ignition timing, VTEC engagement point and VCT of the cam shaft. A special exhaust header and cat back will also be in the kit to work inconjunction with the supercharger.
Cost? Unknown at this point. Power estimates 300 Hp to the wheels and about 250 lbs of torque. Availability? Sometime in late April after the Import Auto Salon in Long Beach CA.

You're saying that the s/c will add ~130 hp and ~120 ft lb on stock internals? Can't wait for dyno proof![Modified by ArcticFreeze, 3:09 PM 1/4/2002]
he never said anything about on stock internals, or what psi the blower would be set at. Although i still find it unlikely that kit will make 300 flywheel horsepower with the "stock" setup.

Boy, nothing like another good debate. For starters the internals are very beefy. The wrist pin is 22mm and full floating, the rods are also very good looking. And we all know that the B and H series motors have great bottom ends. The screw compressor is capable of a far amount of boost unlike the Eaton which is good to 5 lbs and after that things get to be edgy. We plan on about 8 lbs, that should get us to the 300 Hp to the wheels. The major factor is we have an liquid intercooled intake manifold that is 85% efficient. No other supercharger kit has what we do. It is brand new out of Sweden and has been tested by Mercedes Benz. We aslo will have a plug and play engine managemant system to handle the fuel and ignition. Together they will all play a role in a very reliable and powerful kit. We will keep you informed as things progess. At this time the intake manifold is off to the mold maker and the exhaust is under construction.
I'm not sure why you guys are all so skeptical. A stock vortech kit does 270 peak hp on a little B16. 300 is a pretty reasonable goal for the K20.
And the screw (whipple) type chargers are a lot more suited to small displacement engines than the vortech centrifugal ones, and more efficient than a roots. More expensive, though . . . .

But didn't you say you were "never" posting here again? followed by telling all of us to "Kiss your lily white ****"?
Guess we all have different concepts of what "never" stands for...

Welcome back John. I am really suprized to see you back, after your tantrum on the great header test thread...

He's a friend, and yes he is a PUNK
Well sure, I'd reely like to have 300 hp at the wheels of my RSX, and sure I'd love to use them to frag my buddies Jetta off the line, but I'm Scotch and we're cheap, so I definitely need to see a price on this supercharger... and more aftermarket parts to boot.

What's interesting was I responded to https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=103287 with a new thread about header history just before the Christmas holiday https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=104801 but it was locked and then deleted but I can't seem to find out who deleted it. If someone knows please IM me.
This is what is called a "lysholm" supercharger. There are a couple kits for other cars using this 'charger, notably Audi's and VW's.
(I'd heard about them, and those were the first ones to come up at google... i think there is a miata kit too)
I've seen a G60 corrado with a lysholm charger on it, and it sounds like a cuisinart on crack! The charger is definitely capable of lots of boost, too. I believe some manufacturers are looking at selling lysholm boosted cars stock, but I can't remember which manuf. it was.
