Can't get crankshaft pulley bolt off
I have a JDM B16A1 in my 90 CRX Si. I cannot get the 19mm crankshaft pulley bolt off. Tried a big *** breaker bar, no go. Tried my Ingersoll-Rand 2135TI with 700ft-lbs of torque, no go.
Put some WD40 and later some liquid wrench type stuff on it again. Hit it with another 700ft-lbs from the Ingersoll. Still won't f*cking budge. How the hell am I going to get this off? I need to change my timing belt soon before it breaks.
Any in the Seattle area work at a machine shop with a 1 inch drive impact wrench with 1200ft-lbs or more of torque?

I have this impact from Sears that has removed every bolt I needed. If that doesn't work, get a 5-6 ft long pipe and use that on your breaker bar with a big fat guy on the end of it.

I had trouble taking the 17mm crankshaft pulley bolt off my D16A6 too. Even after his a 13 foot antenna poll and liquid wrench. That is why I originally bought the Ingersoll-Rand 2135TI. The 2135 ripped the bolt right off with ease. It was unbelievable. And it has got every other bolt no matter how tight.
Something is up with this 19mm. I am too the point where I may have to drill it out. I mean if the biggest, baddest 1/2in drive impact wrench can't take it off, nothing will. Still hoping some one has a 1 in or bigger impact wrench. Like the one you would use to do the bolts on a steel power poll (the big *** 4 in lugs
).

you gotta make sure the crank isn't slipping when u use theimpact gun cuz w/ the crank moving, its just acting as a dampener and absorbing the impact blows.. also depending on if the motor is till in the car will determine the severity of the situation..
That pully bolt shouldn't be a problem at all.. Just put some elbow grease into it..

i had trouble gettin the one off my ls with a very similar craftsman airgun. i cheated a little and turned the psi in the hose from like 90 to 110-115 and it came off immediately.
ive also had a 4+ foot pipe and a rather large friend break stuff loose for me before. id prefer the air impact gun any day

If you heat up the thick washer behind the bolt it will come off easily with the 700ftlb gun. Get it very hot very quick and you should be fine. The mass of the crank will take the heat away pretty fast so don't worry too much about hurting the front seal or anything. I woulden't get it red hot but maybe close.
Just like tegmech said, get a 8ft breaker bar, and just work with it. I spent awhile trying to break mine loose, but by the time you're practically hanging from the breaker bar, or jumping on it, it will break loose.
They make a tool that will hold the crankpulley if you look at your crankpulley the center is hex shaped they make a tool that slides in there so you can hold it from spinning and break it loose with your breaker bar,it works everytime for me,I had the same problems before I got the tool.
You need to get urself a butane torch....heat up the area around the bolt for like 1 min....then torque it off with ur impact.....Honda uses locktight on there crank bolts from factory.... I did it this way tonight and it came of right quick.

You need this wrench. Even though it costs around $60-80 it is very worth it. You will definitely get it off with the tool. I wouldn't suggest putting a allen key in the flywheel as you can crack the tranny casing or damage the starter teeth on the flywheel. Moroso makes the crank pulley wrench. You can get it on Summit or Jegs.

Naaa....what he needs is not too spend another dollar on crap he's not going too use.....Just get a 5 dollar torch....heat it up...bust it off with 90psi and ur done... and all under 5 bucks...and it's full proof, no doubt
bringing this thread back to life....

buy the tool. I got mine for less than $50 shipped. it is worth every penny.
my IR impact with 650 lb/ft in reverse couldn't get it. but I got it with that tool and 2 18in breaker bars. you just need constant steady pressure
