Default Is it worth it?

I have a 1989 Honda DX, not sure, but from what everyone tells me, im going with it. It has a d15b2 engine in it. I dont have the money to swap in a better engine. So i was wondering if this engine is worth putting money into? or if it even has the potential to be somewhat fast? Also what is the Stock HP it has? I have about $700 coming to me, i know its deffanitly not enough to be supping up an engine really good, but enough to get going. Thanks

it'll be a decent daily driver, but you WILL NOT be able to make that engine anything mroe than that really.

If you want decent power at a cheap price get a ZC. SOHC or DOHC, they are so damn cheap. Call around to engine/trans sellers, you just have to wire for PGMFI your set. You can keep your tranny, axels, easier to get a new engine harness. Just pick up a new manifold off maybe a same year Si and then just bolt it on. You can even keep your AC. Go to http://www.thezcr.com for more info on ZCs. - Darrell

D15B2 puts out about 90hp stock. Great for mileage, not for performance.

there's no ZC d15b2

ZC's are just jdm versions of the usdm stock ef si motor.

like dohczccrxsi said there's a dohc, and a sohc. they put out 130 and 120 hp respectively. bottom line. you're gonna want to switch to pgmfi..which i hear is a bitch and a half, but 100% worth it. then you're gonna want that new motor. you can pick up a zc or even a regular si motor for pretty damn cheap. i'm talking CHEAP. the results are gonna be very worth it, too. i just drove a friends civic std. and that thing was a pig. he drove mine and it blew his mind..given my car isnt all that quick. but anything is quicker than what you've got in there now. good luck with your endeavors!

A friend of mine did that one thing previously mentioned where he took off the stock intake manifold on the d15b2 and shoved an SI one on there, bumped the HP by about 10-15. Thats another option, but personally I would do ZC. It is one of the cheapest, easiest swaps to do. You could probably do it for about 400-600$ if you kept your stock tranny. Also bolts directly in

sell it to me, save that and your $700 and get a decent Si or HF (which has the MFPI setup already)

ZC SOHC V-Tec or just plain ZC SOHC, but you might have to do some rewiring unless you find a donor Si and ****** the harness from that car.

yep I can agree to that... but if you really want better gas mileage, just make a nice cold air intake out of pvc pipe! w00t.... I painted mine red still no power though I'm saving up for a b16a1 motor swap.... sometime too far off...
