Timing Belt Problem - Camshaft & Crankshaft out of synch
1990 Honda CRX SI - I removed the engine, had it rebuilt, now it's back in. However, at some point, I didn't tighten the tensioner and now the crankshaft is not in synch with the camshaft. For example, I turned the crank bolt (clock wise - another operator error) but the belt didn't move.
Can anyone guide me in how to fix my mistake? The camshaft is easy to find TDC, but how do I get back to TDC @ #1 cylinder for the crankshaft? Doesn't that pulley go around more than once in relation to the camshaft pulley?
I need good advice so I don't ruin this newly rebuilt engine!!! Going to lunch to clear my head. I obviously need it!

The answer to this probelem was to remove the timing belt and put the bottom half of the cover back on. Then align the cranshaft pulley according to the timing belt cover. Because the camshaft was already in it's proper place, all I had to do was remove the cover, install the belt, install the bottom cover, install the cranshaft pulley again, adjust the belt, and viola, we're done!
This is kind of what I thought should happen, but I was very irritated with myself that I made this mistake. had I not caught it, I'd more than likely be rebuliding another engine.
Until next time....
