Pulleys
What exactly is the deal with aftermarket lightweight pulley sets?? im hearing so many different things about them. For example, in my Jeg's magazine, it states that the AEM lightweight pulleys will add an approximate 20 or so hp. Then i talk to people about it and they tell me different stories like they only add 5 to 10 hp. Please explain to me what i should believe??
Depends on the type of pulleys you are buying. If you are talking about the AEM power pulleys, those will give you about 5 hp max. The entire purpose of those is to put a bigger pulley in place of the small alternator pulley that it comes stock with, which will give the pulley slower and longer turns which will take some powere away from your electronics, which will free up a little power in your engine.-- If you have an aftermarket sound system without a capicitor, you need to buy a capacitor in order for you system to function without draining your battery.
1-3 whp if you are lucky with the underdrive pullies ........... you gain almost nothing from pullies.
This is from dyno testing on my Type R, I dynoed every mod I put on the car. The pullies gave me no more than 1-2 across the board, no actual peak horsepower difference.

its not even worth the money i find, i had a set of aems on my lude, the damn alternator pulley was crap, it was not producing enough current at idle to where it drained my batter at idle
