Default Overpriced Maybe?

I have been trying to find a hatch to put my swap in (b20/vtec) and I finally came across a car today that I could put it in. It's at a little Ma and Pa dealership in the Boro and I stopped to look at it and talk to the salesman today.

The car is a 1992 Civic Hatch CX, 125,463 miles with the leather (pleather?) interior. In pretty nice condition, although their is some hail damage on the roof and there is a 2-3 inch scratch on the back bumper from backing into something.

Asking price = $4995
KBB quote = $1875
NADA Retail = $1999-2999

Is the pricing overkill or is it really worth the price he is asking? Car is 5 speed.

i got an almost mint 92 si for $2900, it had a rebuilt stock motor with 254k miles (basically all highway miles), and there was numerous very small chips in the paint on the front, the interior was fully stock and in mint condition...so yes 4999 is way to much, 2000 max seems like a reasonable deal

just think about having to peel yourself off of those seats in the summer, at least if you talk him down you can afford some seat covers. The ONLY way I can see that peticular car being worth it, is if there is $1500 sitting in the glove box.

The problem with that is, this is the first stock, clean hatch that I have seen here in the past 6 months I have been looking for a ride. Actually, it is the only 5 speed hatch I have seen local in the past 6 months.

Unforunately, I can't afford a newer car since I am under high risk insurance so I will keep looking.

keep looking, they're out there... i got my 1992 cx w/ 170k miles for $750 in fair condition (no rust, needed a fender).

that's probably not pleather, more likely vinal... i dont think honda was trying to trick anyone with their 92 cx interior... replace the seats; easy to find decent cloth seats at a junk yard.

I'd say the car you're looking at's worth appx $2000

yeah, i had trouble finding a clean and stock 92-95 si hatch...took me about 3 yrs or so just to find one that wasnt overpriced...so i gave up and looked into an ex coupe instead, since theyre more common than the si's...

but i'm sure you will find another hatch for much less than 5 grand at around 2000 or so...just keep the search going...and dont be afraid to travel a good distance, maybe within 100 miles (if you're willing to) to find a clean ,stock hatch...i travelled about 70 miles for my coupe...good luck though!

Yeah I drove 3 hours for my coupe.... finding a clean non rusted quarter panle civic in Central Ny is almost impossible, so I had to drive from one side of the state to the other...

Awful price . I've got a friend selling his 92 si hb for $3600 canadian. He's got over $5000 in mods and less miles also.
