Hi people, I am a new user to this forum. Wondering when and where (Acura Dealer) i should get my timing belt checked, or if i even need to do one right now. My type R have about 55,000 on it.
I am located in the Bay Area, CA.
Thanks for the help.

at 55k, i would at least start planning a date to have your timing belt/waterpump changed...
if your R is stock internally, manufacturer recommends change at 90k iirc correctly

You can check it yourself very easily. All you have to do is take off the top of your engine (valve cover) and look at the teeth of the belt on the right side (from front). If they look worn you should start thinking about replacing it.
I just finished a timing belt change on my gsr. I changed it at 109k miles, and the belt still looked brand new. No wear at all. Heh, the new belt I put in actually looked worse after it was in because it rubbed against stuff and had dust on it from the install. Your manual says to change it at 90 if under harsh driving conditions, or 105 for normal conditions.
Btw, I'm also in the bay area. Living near oakland, and my parents house where I do my car work is near Petaluma/Santa Rosa.

Oh great. Thanks for the advise, I guess I still have some time before I need to do anything. I wonder if there are any Type R or import meet around the Bay.
This looks to be a very helpful forum.
