Default 1990 is acting up again....help me out

First off, the battery light on the dash lit up a couple nights ago and I didn't really think much of it. It was on for a night, went off the next day, came on again today.

Whats going on with the car.
1. Battery light is on but the car starts RIGHT up with no problems
2. The lights do seem a little dim but I think I might just THINK they look dim becuase the battery light is on.
3. When I am driving and turn on the blinker, the RPM gauge and MPH gauge go ******* wild ( bounce up and down until I turn the blinker off)
4. When I am driving at a constant speed, and turn on the bright lights, the MPH bounces up like an extra 2mph. ( If I am driving at 30 and turns the brights on, the MPH will say 32)

Im not sure if the gauge is just fucked up or what. I left the back door open ALL night last night, then went out to see if the car would start and it started right up so I am not sure if it is the battery or not.

I have the battery on a charger right now. If the problem still continues I will go out and buy a new battery. I am a little hesitant though becuase I am almost positive the battery is less than a year old.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be the problem other than the battery? Or is it just the battery?

maby check all your relays , you might find a bad one..
try disconnecting the battery for half an hour.. then reconnect..

rip apart and hunt down rusted ground wires ... crossed wires .. did you do any wire modifications ... put in new cd player ... car alarm anything? make shure all your fuises are the correct ones in the correct places..

i dunno these situations i would buy a new car..

LOL. Sorry if i offended you with that. That car actually kicks ***. Besides this, the only thing that has ever gone wrong with it was a busted CV joint. She is a tanker

I'm going to take a like 5 second video showing the speedo when i hit the blinker. I dont know how long it will take though becuase I am home and on a 56k

looks like my old 1990 lx .... same color and did you paint the bumpers.. i kno i did..... u know whats funny .... all the electrical **** on that car was ******* up to.... but i did a compleat wire harness transfer from an exr( up in canada.) and also added power windows ...

my problems were when ever i breaked the dash lights would dim.. and one back light would be bright for some reason... i did a lot of wire mods so i lost my self with that issue and thought i would start fresh..

ALSO BTW: did you change any electrical parts from another year or trim level in your accord... i did that with tail lights and when i realised there is a computer chip with the marking ex on it ( as soon as i changed these i had problems with the lights) just a thought

Other than the roof rack and a new exhaust, the accord has been untouched.

maby water damage... if you are facing the car with the hood open and looking to the top left where all the fuses go...

unbolt all the 8mm bolts around the fuse holder and lift it upside down... there should be a wire harness connection and on my car that had alot of goopy **** in there that i cleand up... from years of watter and condensation.. try that .. you may have something curoided and possibly pulled out...

sounds like you have a dying alternator. This prob why you lights are dim and you batt light it on.

Well, I just got home. Unfortunately the car didn't come home with me. It's dead.

It was doing the same **** with the blinkers and the speedometer, then it started to feel like it was running out of gas ( wouldnt go when i pressed the gas) and the interior lights pretty much shut off and the headlights weren't any brighter than a small flashlight.

Can anyone give me an estimate on how much an alternator would be? Thanks guys

change it yourself, its like 3 bolts... and your prob sounds like a dying alternator, I agree with that. the reason your car idles different or changes speed is because your voltage regulator is doing its job. I would guess that your alternator is running at like around 12-13 volts. That charge would allow you to start the car but when extra loads are present your car will show symptoms in other areas... to change the alternator on your car is really easy... just go to your local auto store and get a Haynes or Chiltons... they will show you how to do it. Mine took me about 20 minutes to take the old one out and put the new one in. good luck!
