Still smokes after 45 mins of driving
Usually when the temp is cold, cars smoke really bad till they are driven a bit, they warm-up and they stop smoking. Well recently in the mornings, I'll start her up, in the cold, let her sit for a few minutes and then take her to school. Well once I get to school (45 minute drive), the car is still pouring butt loads of smoke out of the tailpipe, but like I said early most cars warm up after about a few minutes of driving. My thermostat works and the engine does warm-up for sure, but I'm stumped on why it does it. And it doesn't smoke during the summer or when it's warm, so I know I'm not leaking anything. What's up?
check your rad fluid levels and your oil level..
sounds like it could be moisture in your exhaust gas, and would vaporize in the hot summer days. During the winter when its cold you would see it..
If your catalytic converter is working really good it makes H2O also..but usally not enough to see it after the car is warmed up.
kinda like when it gets cold you can see your breath

The combustion process produces H20, water, thats why you see what appears to be 'gas' dripping out of tailpipes in the summer, and clouds of exhaust in the winter. (summer the vapour condenses, winter it dosent)
Is the smoke black, blue, white (and smells sweet), is there exhaust sut around your tailpipe?

Yeah, but usually it will go away after a little bit of driving. It's kinda of akward to be the only one with steam pouring out of my exhaust on the interstate going for about 40 miles.
There is sut around the exhaust pipe, and it's a moderate amount.
