Back in the old days (I remember them all too well), you could buy a gauge that would show you how to get good milage.

They were nothing more than a intake manifold vacume gauge. The idea being that if the manifold vacume stayed within a certain range, the milage was better.

My guess is that the light you are talking about senses at least the MAP sensor, among other things and generates the light.

Whatever it's based off of (MAP, etc...), it's tight as hell. I get around 280mpg on my REX's tank. ****, 370 - I only wish. Where'd you get such a contraption¿ Also, it seems like shifting @ 1500 and 2000 is really low.... could just be my brain not working but it seems like that would put you far out of the power band therfore bogging the engine down and getting worse fuel economy than shifting @ higher RPMs....?

I bought a 90-91 HF cluster for my 91 Si since my fuel needle was fuxored on the original cluster, and it had a shift light. It obviously didn't work in my car, but it was there.

I think all HF's had that except for California cars. Just like the EG Cx's.
