Brake Light on dash when its cold
i could just leave my 01 5spd in gear over night and not use the e-brake, but when i start the car up in the morning the brake light on the dash stays on for about 5 minutes. i suppose something is warming up but i'm not 100% sure. i made sure the fluid levels are full. is this a honda thing? or just my car. i tried to search but it gave me an error that the search server is temporarily out of service or something. so if anyone of you guys that are up north run into my problem, just tell me my car isnt broke

I have the same problem. Kinda unusual, I had the car last winter and it didn't do that...but everytime I first start it up in the morning, when the weather is very cold, it stays on for a couple of minutes and then goes off.
check and clean all your brake bulbs conections.
Brake light is supposed to detect a blown bulb too.
When it is cold and the contact is not good enough the resistance grows, what can make the bulb control system to think the bulb is blown.

as posted, i made sure the fluid levels were ok, and not the actual lights on the rear of the car, but the one on the dashboard, next to the speedo.
mine did the same thing last winter. I checked fluids and all lights. But only on extremely cold days/nights. Well this winter it started again on the first half *** cold morning. I checked everything again. Everything fine, so I decided to add more fluid and see. I filled it as far as it can without over flowing when you put the cap back on and the light has not came back since. AND IT HAS BEEN VERY COLD. problem fixed! Just top off your fliud and see if that works. good luck!

Are your brakes squeaking at all, it could be that you might have to change your brake pads. My light was on ever since I bought it and everyone that takes a ride ask if its a problem. I think it comes on after you've press the brake pedal for a few seconds, correct? My brakes are squeaking thats why I presume that it would be that since I topped off my brake fluid and changed my rear brake pads already.
I had the same problem with my 01, brought it to dealer and they said it was not brake fluid "level", but it was the brake fluid "pressure". That explained the light coming on in the cold and when a low pressure weather system came in.
